Stayed at the Marriott in October on a business trip to Delhi. The hotel is a typical modern 5 star hotel catering particularly to those who would rather stay next to the airport and not risk Delhi traffic while catching a flight. The building is similar to half a dozen other hotels in the hospitality district at Aerocity. It is a brand new building, devoid of character or architectural finesse. No additional marks for appearance . . Inside the hotel the lobby is impressive and quite grand. The guest relation staff is particularly pleasant and helpful and the front office efficient. The rooms are great. I got a pool facing room that was quite large and bright. The bathroom comes with a full size tub and rest of the fittings are high quality. The WiFi is fast, outdoor pool was sufficiently large and the gym is very well equipped. The restaurant is really large and has an impressive number of choices. I was on an all inclusive package and limited myself to buffet spread, which is very substantial. What you do not see on display, you can order and they usually oblige. Overall, a great experience. Advice to travellers. Only shortcoming is the location (though it could be an advantage if you need to catch a flight). In case you need to explore the city or make short trips to market, movies you need to call use hotel vehicles, which are very expensive, or call for radio taxis, which needs advance planning.
I have stayed at this hotel twice. I travel frequently and my colleague and I decided to share a room at a nice place rather than getting separate rooms at a more modest hotel. Although the hotel is somewhat remote, taxis are readily available to take you relatively inexpensively. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we are made to feel like special guests. The staff is professional, yet friendly and personable. I am a Platinum Marriott member and had access to the lounge. One of the staff members remembered me and his familiar greeting is very nice to receive. I often get up early to call home and he arranged my usual seat away from noise and had my coffee ready in a snap. You don't find friendly service like that everywhere. Our room is very large with 2 queen beds and even had a seat outside on a patio area. The breakfast was incredible in the main restaurant. One of the chefs stopped by the table and asked if he could recommend or prepare something for us. A New Delhi can be a bit overwhelming, and this is an oasis from the normal pace and some unpleasant areas. I would recommend this hotel to business travelers. If you are sightseeing and want to be located in central Delhi, you might want a different choice but if you are sharing a room with a friend or family, be careful at other hotels in the area and look closely at the details of the accommodations. The first time in Delhi, at another 5 star hotel, the beds are pushed together and the bathroom wall is seeing through glass. The JW Marriott is much more appropriate and is top notch in every way
JW Marriott, at the New Delhi Aerocity is one of the many hotels in this vicinity. And being a star brand, it lives up to its reputation . The hotel is large and though there was nothing eye catchy about the decor, it was just simple and elegant . There is an open bar and a small library area in the lobby which leads up to the restaurant as well as guest rooms. The conference hall is very large and can accommodate nearly 500 people, which was nearly the number we had at our conference . The rooms are not very large but fully equipped and the bed is also comfortable, there is a rotating TV which is a good addition. There is a Bath tub in the bathroom but one huge disappointment is the lack of a faucet, and this is something that irritates all of us to the core . It's illogical that we have to ape foreigners and leave our own style of functioning. What is the harm in having a faucet in addition to the toilet paper ?. And if we really have to go by common international standards for a hotel, might as well do away with Indian food at the buffet and serve only continental cuisine . -1 mark for this blunder . Service is good as you'd expect at Marriott and checking in and out was a smooth process . The food also was pretty good, we had a couple of breakfast at their restaurant K3 on the ground floor . The spread was large, and taste of most of the dishes was accurate, the dessert spread is huge and delicious I must say . They have a specialty Japanese restaurant as well, would interest some of the international guests perhaps . The fact that it is just 10 minutes from the airport is a positive for business travelers . Overall a pleasant and relaxed stay.
