The Jagatjit Palace that presently houses the Sainik School, is a beautiful building located in Kapurthala. In the past, Maharaja Jagatjit Singh resided here and the palace is modelled after the Versailles Palace.
The construction of the palace began in 1900 and was completed in 1908. At present the Jagatjit Palace is looked after by the Defence Ministry. This attraction is well-known among various tourists for its beautiful architecture, which is based on Fontainebleau and Palace of Versailles.
Spread over an area of 809371.28 sq. metres, this palace is known for its French architecture, which includes various figures and paintings. This palace was designed by M. Marcel, a French architect.
Travellers visiting the palace can view the famous Durbar Hall and different artefacts like a mechanical clock. This palace also contains a sunken park in the front, which is known as Baija.
