Hotel Review of Sinclairs Retreat, Dooars
Comments: My friends and I, tired of going to the same old hang out joints and places, decided to try out some place new. We had heard of Dooars through a friend?s father and the description of the place interested us. We booked Sinclairs Retreat Dooars as it?s a resort and would give a different feel altogether which we felt a hotel would not. And we didn?t really know what the difference was.
On reaching there, we knew we had made the right choice. We were surrounded by lush green lawns and flowers, the hills and the soothing fresh air. It sure felt good!
The interiors of the resort all gave a sense of being in nature and there was a kind of calmness about it all. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious.
The staff was well mannered and took good care of us, though they do need a little grooming. The resort manager later said that they employ locals who are friendly and hardworking but they do lack the suaveness.
The food at the hotel restaurant was tasty and delightful.
The resort?s location also enabled us to visit various sites like Samsing, Lava, Gorumaru and even try out White water rafting at the Teesta river. We loved the trekking and the adventure sports. It was wonderful to be out in the open, away from the everyday city noise.
We had a wonderful stay at Sinclairs, something different from what we normally do.
Best Experience: The location of the resort in the middle of nature is beautiful. There were so many things to do and so many places to see that we were living in a different place altogether.
Worst Experience: We didnt have any bad experience as such. But the hotel staff can do with a bit more grooming, though i like the idea of hiring locals who give a better feel to the place.

Hotel Review of Sinclairs Retreat, Dooars
We had a very relaxing time. The resort covers a lot of space and is very well maintained. However, the service can be improved. Room service is not available and one has to travel to the common dining room for any meal which maybe cumbersome for elderly people. The trips to adjoining tourist spots should also be better organised....

Hotel Review of Sinclairs Retreat, Dooars
We were a 8 member group which departed Kolkata by the Darjeeling Mail on August 12, 2005 and reached Chalsa on August 13, 2005. We departed from the environs of Chalsa on August 15, 2005. The drive to Chalsa is particularly scenic but the heat was particularly oppressive. The Resort at Chalsa is on 20 acres of land but gives the viewer a feel that it is larger by virtue of it being on the edge of the plateau...
