Jama Masjid, located in Nowhatta, is one of the most important mosques in Srinagar. This mosque was constructed in 1400 AD by Sultan Sikandar. However, later the mosque was extended by Zain-ul-Abidin, who was the son of Sultan Sikandar.

370 wooden pillars and beautiful courtyard along with Indo-Saracenic architecture are some of the attractions of Jama Masjid. On Friday, the mosque is flocked by thousands of Muslims to offer prayers. This mosque has seen several destructions till date as it was ruined thrice by fire and was reconstructed each time. However, the last restoration of this mosque was done during the reign of Maharaja Pratap Singh

"Kashmir - Another Switzerland"

Kashmir, a paradise nestled in the grand Himalayas to the north of Pakistan, bordering China and India. One of the most scenic lands. It is really a paradise on Earth. It has a wealth of natural beauty tucked high away in India's north, with unique cuisine and local craftsmanship.

"Historical value and are visited by all religion"

  • 6.0/7

The place has historical value. It was established a long time back. I was not in a position to ascertain the dates. The place is peaceful. Muslims offer their prayers here. Even people from other religion go and pay their respect. It is said that if you tie a knot and seek something, your wish will be granted. People of all religion visit this place. Ladies at certain point are not allowed and both ladies/gents are required to cover their heads.
