Janjira Fort

Janjira Fort, a 16th Century beautiful fort, is located at a distance of about 21 km from Kashid Beach. This fort is located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra and is surrounded by the turquoise coloured water of the Arabian Sea. Residence of the Siddy Dynasty, this fort withstood many attacks from Marathas and English.

Previously, the fort was protected by a wooden structure built by fishermen, but after reconstruction, a number of towers and turrets were constructed to keep an eye on enemies and pirates. Most parts of the Janjira fort have been adversely affected by the salty water of the sea, but it still hold its glory and grandeur, making it a popular tourist attraction.

Tourists can reach the Janjira Fort by availing row boat service, which is available from 7 in the morning to 6 in the evening, except Friday.
