Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden in Srinagar was set up in 1969. This beautiful landscape garden, situated at the foothills of the enchanting Zabarwan mountain slopes, is located near the famous Mughal Garden, Chashme Shahi, and the panoramic Dal Lake. This garden complex is spread over an area of 80 hectares and comprises four components of recreational garden, botanical garden, research section and plant introduction centre. It also features several inner gardens.
There is a beautiful lake spread over 17 hectares in the complex. Paddle boat facilities are available in the lake. Besides, it has a pleasant water garden and some captivating waterfalls. Over 1.5 lakh ornamental plants, representing 300 plant species can be seen in the garden.
The entry fee to the Botanical Garden is INR 10/- for adults and INR 5/- for children below 12 years of age. There is an extra fee if one wants to avail the boating facilities. Mughal Garden and Dal Lake are the other two sight-seeing locations in the neighbourhood of the Botanical Garden.
The best time to visit the place is during the summer months as the climate is suitable for outdoor activities like boating and walking. The garden is easily accessible from Srinagar town.

Garden has beautiful lake and rare species of vegetation. It offers spectacular view in the backdrop of mountains. I would rather spend a full day here. Soaking in the beauty. Really would have loved to spend more time than I could. Great for kids, its really awesome.
