Situated at a distance of about 100 km from Shimoga town, Jog Falls is one of the main attractions of Shimoga. It is the highest untiered waterfall in India located in Sagara, created by River Sharavathi.
Known also as Gerusoppe Falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi, Jog Falls plummets from a height of about 253 m. The fall has four cascades – ‘Raja’, ‘Roarer’, ‘Rocket’ and ‘Rani’. Visitors can walk down to the bottom of the falls which takes around 30 minutes. The Watkin’s Platform provides views of the falls as well as the surrounding areas.
The best time to visit Jog Falls is during and after the monsoon season. it can be reached from Shimoga by bus and car.
