Bad. The hotel was not well marked and had a damp smell.

Best Experience: None to mention about. There were bed bugs in all rooms.

Worst Experience: Unclean rooms. Blankets not washed.

"Good experience"

User Rating: 4.13/7

The old GMVN need to more clean. The bedsheet \\ pillow etc were as if very bad quality. it was not worth using it. Though I did not get booking in New GMVN...but visited the place...it was good.

Best Experience: Since it was more of a pilgrimage trip rather than holiday trip, the below average quality did not had any major impact to us. The location was good.

Worst Experience: The bedsheet \\ pillow etc were as if very bad quality. We must have good food. Even if its basic home made quality it will serve purpose. The food was very bad. May be the un-clean plus very old room had effect on food. But if we do a proper maintenance to old room it will have good look.

The delux rooms are worst i have seen at these rates.broken and dirty bathrooms, lack of cleaniness in rooms and after taking food for one dinner only 4 members in our group face severe problems. in contrast the facilities of GMVN KAranprayag were much batter at cheaper prices. hospitality of Karnprayag GMVN guest house was outstanding

Best Experience: none at GMVN joshimath

Though the winters are recommended periods for visiting the Hills in Uttaranchal, the monsoons offer its own variety of scenic beauty. The green cover gives your eyes a fantastic treat and the same is likely to remain in your mind and soul for long. Reach Haridwar first : If you have reached by flight or any other mode to Delhi, it is recommended that you travel down to Haridwar by the ever-reliable Shatabdi. Dot 11.35 am, you are in the small town station of Haridwar, a gateway to Uttaranchal. Even otherwise, Haridwar is well commutable by road, once you plan to leave Delhi early in the day. Haridwar to Joshimath by road : Trying to do this in a day can be termed as adventurous! You would need a clear 12 hours to do this. Going by kilometres and computing travelling time doesn\'t make sense here since the slopes / ghats had to be taken into consideration! It also doesn\'t make sense, as you wouldn\'t be enjoying the nice tracks all along, if you hurry thru. Further, driving after 8 pm is practically banned in the Hills ! A vehicle like Innova is the right choice, as you need good clearances. For that matter any SUV will give you the right feel on these roads. GMVN offers nice places en route, both for food and stay and you can safely take a break in any of these spots. The crew of GMVN is friendly and kind and have a clear inclination towards promoting tourism. They clearly believe that a satisfied tourist brings more to the state. If you leave Haridwar early and if there are no land-slides en route in this monsoon season, you can cover good distance in a day\'s drive of say 8 hours (9am to 5 pm). The recommended places for the break are Gauchar or even a river-side Birahi. If you are driving out of Haridwar or Rishikesh well after the break of the day, you need to take a break at earlier spots like Srinagar! Once you come down to Joshimath, there are good options for the stay. If you want to explore the Hills little more seriously, Auli at 2750 plus mts is a good option. You can take a rope way or just drive up thru the cantonment area to either of the options at Auli. GMVN is a basic and simple option and if you want the best, Cliff top Club is a fantastic option. You need to climb further a 3kms on a rugged track by a sturdy vehicle like Maruti Gypsy from Auli for the resort and it is advisable to call them for help instead of venturing in your own vehicle, however tough the vehicle may be. The stay in the resort is worth its effort, with the full view of the peaks from Nandadevi, Ghori Parbat and Hathi Parvat range staring at your balcony when you open the doors, early in the morning!!! There are fabulous trekking options for you to explore the woods along with the peaks, in the company of trained guides from the resort. The first gate : Govindghat, a little village at a small distance from Joshimath / Auli is the gateway for Valley of Flowers / Hemkund Saheb. You need to keep track of the gates which open from 6 am at a periodicity of two hours when you drive out. The walk / climb to Govind Dham is a 13 kms of trek for which the horse option is in. It is a pleasure to walk over this distance with lowly waters, snowy peaks and rugged tracks keeping you company. The final break : You will reach Govind Dham or Gangria for the final frontier. It is recommended that you take an acclimatization break here before you start your journey next morning. This is small place with limited options outside GMVN. The Hotel Pritam (opposite to GMVN) is a good option with a friendly service. They will serve you hot water, good food, hot tea / coffee and even oil massage, if your tired legs / body wanting. Valley of Flowers : July and August is the right season The 3 kms trek to the valley is a treat one can give to himself, after all this effort of travelling down to this tiny but beautiful place. The journey actually is in itself a destination. The trek offers gushing water ways, small bridges, smooth slopes, glacier points, snowy peaks, wet and sturdy trees amongst the flowers and plants of unimaginable grace and colour !!! Exploring the actual valley is a different experience all together and you need time for this. It is up to you to provide time and enjoy the environment in your own terms. You should not be surprised to meet up people who are on their third visit to the valley and scheduled to stay for full 14 days just to explore the valley of flowers! At least spending a full day in the valley of flowers is the justice you can do to the effort you had taken in reaching the place! Hemkund Saheb : World’s highest Gurudwara Once back in the room, relaxed and re-charged, next early morning is the time for the yatra to the high holy shrine in the heavenly environs. The sikh families in all ages, sizes and shapes walk up to the gurudwara on a continuous slope of 6 kms. The trek is a tough one with option of the most takath-war animal known to human kind (horse). The kund is the serene place to take a dip before you visit the gurudwara and take the blessings of the tenth sikh guru. Laxmanji ka mandir in within the vicinity and with its huge history connecting back to Ramayan is a must visit at this altitude. Langar or a tea / Prasad is a natural relief after your darshan. With no staying arrangements at the sahib, it is time to climb back, before it gets dark. The gurudwara is closed officially by 2 pm but the priests are so kind they would open the mandir for you even at 4 pm, as you do deserve a holy darshan, after all that great effort. Trekking back the slopes on a ghoda could be a tough experience as much as walking down is a pleasure. At 4329 mts, the air is so pure and fresh with huge valleys staring at you on the sides of your trekking path. The glacier points and water-ways keep you company on your way. Haridwar and Rishikesh : All is well that ends well A visit to the Ram and Lakshman Jhoola and the boat ride on the peaceful monsoon evening are worth remembering for ever at Rishikesh. A dip in the Ganges is much more sacred and clean than the crowded and dirty dip at Haridwar’s HAr-ki-Pauri, though the later is considered to be sacred ! Temples, temples every where, and you can get all best of wishes from all possible Gods, to wind up your way back home. Jan-shatabdi is a convenient train for get back to New Delhi and a trip to Sharavana Bhawan in Connaught Place is a perfect beating-of-retreat to activate your taste buts, after a week of paranthas and achars with the south Indian sambhar and rasam !!!

Best Experience: A visit to Hemkund Saheb and the Valley of Flowers in a once-in-a-life-time experience

Worst Experience: None.
