I had a wonderful holiday with my husband and five year old son at Jungle Lodges Resort, Bandipur. If you are living in Bangalore and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a few days, then I would definitely recommend Jungle Lodges resorts. Bandipur is around 220 kms. from Bangalore which takes about 5 hours by road. The resort is situated adjacent the Bandipur National Park which makes it convenient to visit the park. Since it is situated in the forest area, the surroundings are naturally green. The banquet area called the Gol Ghar (circular, open-to sides marquee) offers a platform for interaction with other guests. Bandipur Safari Lodge can accommodate a maximum capacity of 44 persons at a time. There are twenty two well-furnished, elegant rooms with modern amenities .(But there is no A/c or T.V. in any of the accommodation). The campus is dotted with medicinal and ornamental plants and the panoramic view of the surrounding hillocks instills the naturalist in you. If you have a prior booking i.e. a computer printout, there is no problem checking in and out. There is no room service. So, you have to go to the dining hall each time. There is no intercom facility also. But that's OK, since we were there for a short time, and we used the room only for bathing and sleeping. All inquiries are generally made at the reception and dining areas. There was a lot of variety in food, both veg and non-veg. The major attraction of Safari Lodge is its wildlife expeditions into the Bandipur National Park. The trips are slated for the best periods of wildlife sighting, i.e. at the daybreak and in the evening. One of them will be a ride in a jeep and in the other guests are taken for a trek guided by an experienced naturalist who will initiate you to the mysterious landscapes of nature. For those who want an arduous workout, there is no greater challenge than hiking the heights of Gopalswamy Betta or down the slopes of the Moyar Gorge. Bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography can have no better opportunity than a walk on this treasure trove of natural features
Its really wonderful experience I had in this resort, very well organised, excellent service. Infact it was my first experience in jungle lodge type of resorts. Its very well located close to hill site and approchable to Bandipur forest. They have very good team who guide you through the bandipur forest. I had 3 day stay in this resort and they gave such excellent service like waking up in the morning for early morning safari, nice breakfast, excellent lunch and dinner. The main purpose of my this trip was to photograph the animals and birds and this resort made such a nice arrangement so that I got to se lot of animals and was able to catch them in my camera. Big thanks to the team who took us to the safari through the bandipur forest. I will definitely recommend this resort to the people who are int rested in Jungle safari and photography with excellent service.
Good location, good ambience, lovely cottages, good food and knowledgeable staff make this a great place to stay in Bandipur. The drivers, trackers, naturalists are the best available and they are do a wonderful job!
The location is easily accessible by any bus from Mysore to Ooty as it is on the way. The appearance of the resort is o. K. But the room and the bathroom was neat with all the facilities required except the room service but one doesn't need this as everything is provided in time at the golghar where every visitor get a chance to know each other which would have not been possible if there would have been room service. The room had a animal painted on its wall and its bedcover so it created a wildlife environment. After 10 o'clock in the night when all the lights of the resort were switched off, we felt as if we are staying in the jungle as there was complete darkness and pindrop silence. Food provided in the package was o The pacakage was full of activities to make the trip enjoyable and everything was in time. Wildlife was full of deer and monkeys running here and there. There were sambhars, peacocks, monkeys, elephants and other birds in their natural habitat. We even saw a leopard at about 5 to 6 feet away from our open vehicle which was very thrilling. Last but not the least the jungle view was very nice.
It was a big family reunion with my parents, my sister\'s family and my family planning to enjoy a good time together. We started early on the morning of 24th September 2009 from Toranagallu and by evening we had reached Mysore. We halted for the night at Pai\'s and next day we drove off to Bandipur. The accommodation was already booked and there were no checking in hassles. The accommodation is basic, but the rooms are spacious, with clean beds and large toilets with running water. There were two patios for chilling out. My daughter who was around 1 year 10 months at that time had a ball of a time chasing butterflies and rolling around on the lawn. The room service was prompt in getting Coffees and soft drinks. My and my Bro-in-law had a good time shooting flowers and catching up. Lunch was liked by most of the people, but somehow I failed to relish the food, maybe my palate needs to still adjust. Then at around 4 we reported for the safari, jeeps were ready with guides etc and voila!!! at sharp 4 the safari started. We did see a few animals some Gaur, Langoors, Macaques, Mongoose, Jungle Fowl, peacocks, elephants, tiger pug marks and Wild Boar. The safari lasted till 6PM and when were back there were refreshments ready for us. The place has a small souvenier shoppe, where one can get camouflaged hats, jackets, T-Shirts, Lowers, etc. At about 7PM there was a 1 hour documentary on wild life in and around the Nilgiris. The documentary during my visit was the one on Wild dog and it was good. There is a small basic bar next to the place where they project this documentary. We had dinner at around 8:30Pm and there after settled in early as the next safari was at 6AM and we had to get up early. We did get up early and the Safari started as planned. The morning safari was still better and we saw more or less the same animals but we also saw the gorge separating mudumalai and bandipur.........it was amazing After breakfast we checked out and started back. The whole experience was enjoyable and memorable.
