After my 1st visit to JLR Bannerghatta in 2015, I zeroed at JLR Galibore. Hospitality : Excellent. To mention Mr.Srinivas, Mr.Basavaraj, Mr.Chickkaraj, Mr.Venkatesh for hosting us. Accommodation Type: Tented Cottage. Distance: Approx. 100 KMs. from Bangalore Travelling Time: Approx. 3:00 Hours Route: Bangalore-Kanakapura-Mekedhat-Right turn just before Mekedhat/Sangam-Galibore Nature Camp Road Condition: Bangalore - Mekedhat(2 Lanes) - The last 9KMs. is bad but manageable. Google Maps is perfect to locate the resort. Mobile Coverage : BSNL, Airtel near the river bank. About: The Camp is located approximately 9 KMs. inside the forest on the banks of Cauvery river. It is named after the windy hillock called Galibore. Address: Galibore Nature Camp, Uyamballi Post, Kanakapura Taluk. Conclusion: Will visit again & would surely recommend to friends.
Galibore is a great place to unwind - without even mobile networks to disturb you! The Karnataka Tourism Jungle Lodges follow a set pattern of functional rooms, lots of fun things in the camp (hammocks, climbing nets, barbecues etc)... all that is there at Galibore as well. A relaxing coracle ride in Cauvery river is the only activity at this camp. (If you want more adventure stuff, you can try out their nearby camp at Bheemeshwari.) Food is functional but the service impeccable, the staff being well trained, polite and efficient. One problem is the last nine kms to the resort is through a mud road through the jungles. You should ideally have a four wheel drive or at least a car with high ground clearance to negotiate this stretch.
I stayed here with my family for about 3 days and those 3 days were one of the most memorable days of my life. The location is perfect for holidays. The rooms are comfortable, the food is fantastic, the location is perfect. You will surely enjoy this place, especially fishing.
The staffs at the hotel were very co-operative and they were very attentive to us. The room in the hotel was well fascinated with all the amenities in good conditions. It was also kept clean and tidy and that was good. The food was very good in taste and high in quality. We had all the facilities though it was situated interior in the jungle. They had arranged for many refreshing activities and we really enjoyed it. There was no difficulty in sigh in and sigh out. The stay was extremely nice and had lots of fun there. The overall experience at the hotel was fantastic.
It was a last minute plan and the previous week i had been to Mekedatu which is just around 10 kms from this place. I had seen a board that rest fishing camp while returning from Mekedatu and was curious about it. Since it was last minute, the idea was to not take any risk and if the location would turn bad, the plan was to cut the trip short and visit Mekedatu again with my wife. I read some reviews and they were all positive, so here I was to explore a new location. We left Bangalore at around 5:00PM and reached the location at around 9 PM. To our diappointment we had missed the barbecue. The travel agent hadnt clearly explained about the timings :(. The check-in time is at 11:00 AM and the check-out time is 12:00Am the next day. I was a little sad on the barbecue part and since it was pitch dark in the forest when we landed, I didnt get a complete feel of the place, but there was a strange feeling of excitement and something intution telling mem that it was going to be the most memorable trip. When I reached there, the staff was very friendly and hospitable and they welcomed us with a very friendly attitude. they assured that whatever activities we missed would be done separately for us the next day. That was very reassuring. We went straight to dinner and the staff handed over the keys, a torch and a solar lamp to us. The room had electricity but there were no tubes or other kinds of electric lamps. The room looked completely in sync with nature. Looks like the staff had taken a cue from the previous reviews. The attitude was nothing like the way it was mentioned in other reviews where there were reports of bad and rough attitude of the staff. The room was also very clean and nothing looked unattended, though the staff was eager to get back to bed after handing over everything to us, quite understandabley since we had landed late. Dinner was not too great, but was manageable. I went to sleep, eagerly waiting for the next day to dawn. The next day started with calls of the staff for trekking at around 6:30 AM and tea was served. We left for trekking at 7 AM with a guide. The route for the trek was steep on the hill nearby. We went up the hill that looked like just the hill next road and reached the viewpoint. We werent lucky enough to see any animals, except for some elephant dung, but the route did excite us.The view point is amazing and feels worth the trek. A complete view of river cauvery flowing though a snaky path accross to the other end towards Sangam was awesome. We took some nice snaps and then left the place. The trek downstairs was a little slippery with some tiny stones and it had rained but we made it back. the guide was very amicable as well. We headed for breakfast and i was surprised to find that many items. It was all yummy and I filled up a little more than normal. After 30 mins of rest, we headed for water sports. we chose Kayaking after rafting partly because I had forgotten to draw cash and credit cards were not accepted because of signal issues. The sports guide was very accomodative and offered to take us for the sport anyway and asked us to pay later through an online transfer. He said he would send the account details by mail and I am yet to receive it. Kayaking was a great experience.v The location offers some good rapids and currents that are essential for a good Kayaking experience. there is no hurrry to finish the job and get back to the tent and the guides take us through sufficiently to get a hands on on the Kayaking process. They only row when the kayak is going out of direction and allow you to take the lead, which was pleasant. If you are already familiar with Kayaking, you wil be allowed to do it on our own without a guide. We did pass through some excitin rapids and my wife was scared to the helm, but she now loves the experience. This went on for 2 hours and we paid Rs. 600 per head. Rafting cost Rs. 1250 per head. We then reached or the tent and had our lunch which was good and then moved on for the coracle ride which took us trhough some breath-taking views, but not many animals in view. this was a 1 hour affair and then we were driven back to the tent. Finally we were taken for joy-fishing and since the staff had a lot of wasted lunch to dispose to the fishes, it was easy to get the unsuspecting fishes to take the bait. The mahseers were pretty big in size and in half an hour we could catch aroubd 4 fishes. The fishes are only for fun and have to be left back in the river. Me and my wife took some snaps with the fishes and with that called an end to our trip. It was 6 PM in the evening. The staff thanked us for coming and got us to sign the feedback book and we were on our way home with a lot of fond memories with us. It was the best journey for both my wife and me.
The camp itself is a beautiful array of 12 cottages nestled among huge, green trees. There is nothing for miles around—no plastic, no vehicles, no food, not even roads. There’s no better venue for a reunion with Mother Nature. We hired an outfit called Outback adventurers to help us in the wilderness. These guys were ready for us with the first activity of the day—rafting—as soon as we hopped off the bus. Getting into the life-jackets we felt adventurous already. After a brief safety speech by Sanjeev, our expert navigator, the real thrills began. A couple of rapids tested our synchronization and strength. No one fell overboard, which was kind of disappointing! Back at the camp, the aroma of delicious chicken curry, spicy chhole and piping hot rasam beckoned us. Still in our wet clothes, we attacked the yummiest food we have had in a long time. Stuffed to the gills, we hung ourselves out on the hammocks to dry. By midnight, we crawled into our small tent and were off to Snoreville in 5 minutes. The awesome weather ensured a peaceful sleep. Woke up only at 6 to the sound of “Trekking at 7, saar. Please have tea and be ready!”. This time we went up a short hill. We struggled in our Nikes and Reeboks while our guide leapt like a mountain goat in Hawai chappals.
This is another JLR from the same area as bheemeshwari. This is further away from the other JLR and understandably less known and visited. But a very good experience here as well.
The beauty of any trip is in looking forward to it, without actually knowing fully about how it looks! You expect some sophistication and you are bowled over by the simplicity. What floored me was that this place was in Bangalore district itself, within easy reach anytime I wanted, yet it took me till now to experience the beauty of the place. It was joyful, to put it simply.
it is very pleasent and a beautiful place to visit with lots of nature around. the lodge is good the rooms was small yet spacious and clean food was good i liked it. it was a good experience.
