About Jungle Retreat
Nestling in the foothills of the Nilgiri Mountains and bordering the twin wildlife sanctuaries of Bandipur & Mudumalai is Jungle Retreat, run by the Mathias family. The retreat is surrounded by dry deciduous forests, home to the Asiatic elephants and co-habited by a variety of wildlife including the Indian tiger. This 35 acre holiday retreat has been converted from a dilapidated sericulture farm and today offers accommodation in country style cottages. The menu of activities includes forest treks, safaris, and visits to elephant camp, tea/coffee plantations, and trips to Ooty. Best season to visit – Jun – Nov.
Rooms & Amenities
Cottages are categorized as deluxe cottages (with a/c & refrigerator), regular cottages, bamboo cottages (built on stilts entirely out of bamboo and thatch, features al-fresco baths), tents and tree house (30 feet above ground level). The cottages are set in different pockets of the campus and maintain their privacy. Amenities include swimming pool, indoor games, home-cooked buffet spread, liquor license, laundry, doctor on call and room service. Credit cards accepted.
