Jungle Retreat Wayanad, Wayanad

We had a terrific experience in jungle retreat. The house rules - Animals have right of way and shouldn't be disturbed! (It was so refreshing to hear that). Every morning I had spotted deer around my cottage. They are wild animals and though I tried to make friends with them by offering some bananas, the moment they saw you approach them, they'd scatter. 1) "Look but don't touch"� seemed to be the message. 2) You can walk inside the fenced area where you are safe, but can't walk outside the electric fenced area around the property unaccompanied. The simple reason being that elephants frequent the periphery of the property at night. They are attracted to the sweet mangoes and Jack fruits (biggest fruit I have ever seen and it is covered with spikes too!) grown in the farm. It is also not uncommon to see pugmarks in and around the property.

Best Experience: We saw the Tiger .... finally! Happened during our night safari drive. Why go there 1) Go there if you like wildlife go for jungle treks, go for safari rides 2) If you like peace and solitude, as you are not likely to see any of the other guests or any one else for that matter, unless you wish to! 3) If you are an outdoor person – lots to do! 4) Go for a swim in the near by jungle stream, it is bloody cold! Catch some fish and they will cook it for you. On a closing note, take many memory cards for your camera with you, because every view or sight is a photo opportunity. Post card location! Worst Experience: Don't go there 1) If you are looking for luxury, no AC, TV, DVD in your room and no party lights for discos! (I didn't go there for that!) 2) Can't think of any more.

Not good as it below average what we expect after visiting website and reviews on Trip advisor.

Best Experience: Thirunalli temple is very close to this resort. Good for wild life photographers only.

Worst Experience: Prior to our booking we checked their website and found some appealing information on the brochure that we opened. Nothing on the site matches what we found. Night safari is a drive around in a jeep with a torch looking at animals coming out at night in the roadside. We saw Elephants and Deer, which was probably the highlight of the stay. Very uncomfortable stay as cottage is stinking, no TV, swimming pool not usable, No fan, c worst part no tubelights so that one can read ( only CFL's :))
