Overall, my experience in this hotel was good. I stayed there only for one night. Room was good. It was clean and well-maintained. Booking was done through online. There was no problem in check in, check out, payment and all. Booking procedure was easy. Service was good. Reception people were nice. Appearance wise, it was very good. It was near to the Jog falls. A nice view of falls was there so the location of the hotel was very good. Nothing was complimentary. Food was good. There were no activities available. Jog Falls is an excellent place. I went there with my family in August. Everything was good in this property. It was worth for money. Reception and all were cordial. Parking facility was there and it was good.

Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most outstanding tourist properties run by the Indian government which I have visited or stayed at. Normally one would find a rather run down, averagely managed outfit, but that's not the case with the new Sharavathi blocks of KSRTC. The location is unbeatable. Named after the Sharavathi river that cascades almost 1000 ft down the gorge to form the roaring Jog falls, a view from their beautiful French windows is breathtaking.

The best time to visit Jog is right after the rains, as you see them full and brimming. The fog can play spoilt sport, but if you stay there for at least 2 nights, you are ensured of catching a proper clear view that will be etched in your memory. Come during December and the falls shrink to barely a trickle, and I was joking with dad last September that it's either now or never, as then you might as well catch more water in your tap at home than at Jog.

Food is a big let down here, as they have only one canteen with very limited vegetarian dishes, and there is nothing else available in the vicinity. So a 2 night stay here would suffice. So let Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer greet you in their splendid form between July and September and make the most of this opportunity to see India's second highest falls amid lush settings.

If you want to stay in the falls, this is the only place. There are two blocks here - Sharavathi and Tunga. Sharavati block is a very good and believe me if you enter the room you will be impressed and wonder that it a really a govt. property or not. Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most outstanding tourist properties run by the Karnataka govt. (Only you can compare with MP tourism or Kerala tourism properties) which I have visited or stayed in. The location is unbeatable. Named after the Sharavathi River that cascades almost 1000 ft down the gorge to form the roaring Jog falls, a breathtaking view from their beautiful French windows. Though i visited in the month of October 2013 the fall which divides into four different span i.e. Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer greet you in their splendid form between July and September and make the most of this opportunity to see India's second highest falls amid lush settings. Ruby throated bul bul and oriental dwarf Kingfisher i got in Front of My room. Also Asian paradise flycatcher near falls. A rainbow on falls is a cherry to your cake and i witnessed this. The best time to visit Jog is right after the rains, as you see them full and brimming

Advantage:-
Sharavati Block - The Room is big, Huge , Nice Comfortable , LCD ,Even extra bed also nicely decorated, Large window , dressing Room , Bathroom . From Big window you see the falls directly.

Tunga Block - (Avoid Tunga block due to lower category room and poor maintenance. Don't make your kids and parents stay there I mean at TUNGA BLOCK)
Disadvantage:-

The major disadvantage is there is no room service, No tea at room in the morning, canteen almost 500 metre away and every time you have to go there.

Then food - Absolutely horrible. There is one KSTDC Mayura restaurant in front of Tunga blocks near falls and believe me food is a great disappointment. You cannot taste Veg Meals. There are plenty of private canteens near Main entrance and you can try them, at least i took morning tea and breakfast from there but at night the maximum food store are closed near main gate.

Hotel is nice and staff are good , but Alas! no attached restaurant. People are forced to travel 200 m to get to eat. Even this restaurant is not good.
It looks faded and dirty. Overall the hotel is good. I suggest KSTD to improve have new restaurant attached.

We booked online one non a/c triple bed room (rs 900) in tunga block in the kstdc hotel in jog falls and were shocked to see the pathetic condition of the room when we arrived at Jog. It is a tiled roof with worst old dirty smelling floor. Bathroom has no window shutters and the door is also open at the bottom. No hot water was coming in the morning and after complaining he switched on the mains for the geyser which is in terrible condition with open wires waiting to kill a victim. The bottom cover was also hanging. Fan made its own noise. kstdc is cheating people by charging Rs 900 while its actual worth is Rs 100, by putting up deceptive photos. In Karnataka tourist places are totally neglected by the Govt with bad roads, boarding and lodging. Never ever stay in kstdc hotels.

Rooms are more damped one. Leakage of water caused this dampness inside the room. Beds are wet when we arrived room. Geyser in bathroom didn't work. No water in bathroom for basic needs itself. When we reported in reception they said some plumbing problem.

But any way people in reception are good. They approached us well. Keep it up. Try to solve the above issues to avoid future complaints like this.

The hotel is located just opposite to the falls. The grand view of the falls from the hotel was amazing.

The hotel staff were helpful and courteous! The place on the whole was neat and tidy. We enjoyed the trip.

The one point to mention was the food. The food was ok but not up to the standards! If this gets improved, it will sure to draw more tourists!

The hotel is great but there is no food facility. You need to improvise more on the hotel services like providing tea and meals. There should be more number of restaurants. The hotel is well maintained, clean and hygienic, which has captivated our hearts. We are looking forward for another stay at your hotel. The hotel television lacks some important channels, but the hotel is at its best.
