Kadayam village is located in Ambasamudram Taluka, on the shores of the Jambunathi River and Ramanathi River. These rivers are the tributaries of the Thamirabarani River. It is popular for its lime orchards, thazhambu flowers and a cottage industry of rose water.
According to legend, Goddess Kalyani Amman, the presiding deity of this place, pulled out her bracelet, kadagam, and threw it far away in anger. Therefore, this place is called as Kadayam, earlier known as Kadagam. The local people decided to reside at the place where the kadagam fell.
