Our arrival at Kate's itself was dramatic , we were dropped there not by road but by houseboat and received by Mr Jossy. We chose it on a friend's recommendation who had stayed there. Located on West bank of calm Pampa river lined by houses on both sides, it is a treat to spend holidays there. They have cottages, dining area and the house compound adjoining the river. Just having arrived all of us hopped into kayaks owned by the family and went out for a tour of river. They have collection of functional kayaks, a vallum, canoes but non functional available for the guests. Enjoyed tours of the villages along channels of the river by these boats which was unique experience. Boatman, if required, can be hired.Only sounds heard were of birds. What a place, truly god's own. Enjoyed swimming in river. My daughter too jumped in company of their kids at the riverside. Ofcourse one needs to follow precautions going into unknown waters and Qadir was a great help. Cottages with verandahs and compounds have tasteful chairs, hammocks, beach chairs for spending leisure. There is ariver pond. The nearby market on south side along river bank has a church, not to be missed art studio catering to churches' requirements home and abroad where we could see the artist working on wooden statue and on the north side along river bank there is a beautiful temple and in the evening one can see birds nesting place near the temple. And now icing on the cake- food and hospitality of the family. We got to relish true Kerala cuisine in so much of variety and taste , the warmth of the family made the experience a memorable one. My daughter who has to take GLUTEN free food enjoyed it like anything and my wife did not have to do any special cooking for her which she otherwise has to do on holidays. My daughter had nice time with thier kids. We are really thankful to Mr Jossy and family for giving us such a delightful experience.
I dont have words to explain the feeling and experience of staying in Kait's Home. First we friends visited Kait's Home 4 years before and we were felt like being in Nature's lap enjoying the serene surroundings around this place. Later this year we made it a point to visit this place again with our family. Everyone liked this place and the excellent hospitality provided by the family. The best part of stay at Kait's Home is the home-made food they provide. They ensure the menu is changed every meal to ensure the guest have a taste of the multiple variety of food that Kerala offers. Kids enjoyed and the stay. At last everyone felt like staying one more day. We stayed there for 3 night and 3 days. The dining place is built on the back water giving an astonishing view of the back water and life in the back water.

Kaits Home : It was a Nice Home Stay on Pamba River 15Kms From Allappey Town.Property is directly connected to river amidst small champakulam village.Old Type Rooms though Small were nice neat & Clean With use of wood at one side was giving rustic touch. Rooms were seprate from the building adjacent where host & his family stays. Bathroom size was normal but hot water was bit problem due to low voltage. Front Varandah is good place to seat & Chill looking at life passing by the river. Host Mr. Jossy is great guy who was always willing to share the knowledge. You can get feel of Life of Kuttanad village,Rice Farming by staying here. Even in Property itself there are various different Plantations. Not Suitable for person whose primary requirement is Luxury or require frequent room services. Food was simple and good. Little more variety in breakfast would have been welcomed. Lunch & Dinner Charges felt higher as compare to our other Home stay.
