Kaivalyam is a lovely retreat run by a Gujarati gentleman, set among extensive cardamom plantations in the hills on the way up to Munnar. The rooms are very spacious and nicely done up (they even have a couple of treehouses), there's lots of greenery and flowers on the premises, and the surroundings and views are generally tranquil and stunning. They also have a large number of activities to choose from, including a trek down to the waterfall which is particularly nice as one traverses almost the entire cardamom plantation in getting to the pool under the waterfall (which is very nice for a swim by the way). All in all, it's a great choice if you're staying around Munnar!
I visited this place in month of February along with my wife as this was my first trip to Kerala but I found this place awesome, away from noise pollution so calm place from here you will get a different view of Munnar. Room, staff and owner was very gentle and helpful. They also involve you in various activities like trekking yoga. Good place to visit.
I have never expected this can be such a memorable stay, from location to ambience from service to hospitality everything excellent. Very scenic location cut from regular fast life a peaceful place to be with your loved one's. We never wanted to leave the atmosphere if not to return back.

My wife and I visited Munnar at the fag end of our absolutely amazing 15-day Kerala travels. Honestly, we were a tad exhausted and had heard Munnar was quite touristy, so we weren't expecting (to do) much. But our arrival at Kaivalyam seemed to give us renewed energy. The place is 7 km away from the busyness of Munnar, and a steep downhill journey away from the road too. Set amid extensive cardamom plantations and gazing out onto stunning tea estate-laden hills beyond, Kaivalyam is replete with lovely flowers, chirping birds and a rare quietude which is genuinely therapeutic. Run by a Gujarati gentleman, it admittedly lacks a true-blue Kerala feel, but the beauty of the surroundings more than make up for it. The place has about 8-10 rooms, which are spacious and have balconies, and 2 tree houses, each overlooking thick cardamom plantations and having a tree trunk growing right through it! We spent one night in a room and New Year's Eve in the tree house, and it was really memorable. The retreat offers a generous numbers of activities, and we really enjoyed the 2-hour walk down to the river through the plantation. In fact, it’s a great place to take a dip (as we discovered a little too late) if weather and a spare set of clothes permit! The New Year's eve celebrations were a dampener - the 'gala' dinner spread was much less carefully prepared than the a la carte meals, the round of Tambola was all-too-mundane and sombre, and one of the basic fireworks lit very carelessly (and dangerously) by the staff burst and made two holes in my wife's shawl! But all in all, considered with the benefits of objectivity and hindsight, we enjoyed our stay and more than anything else the surroundings, which are absolutely lovely!
Great!!!! the hospitality, ambiance, food, staff, surroundings everything was just amazing!!!
The overall experience was mind blowing - Nature at its best. Surrounded by lush greenery, mist that passes by the window makes it a picture perfect scenery. This topped with hot coffee and finger licking tasty veg food takes us out of this world. The management and room service are very friendly.
The hotel is located in good area and fabulous sight seeing are there. The house keeping is good. It will be very good for honey moon couples. The arrangements are made good and more over they will suggest based on your requirement for sight seeing.
