Among the oldest temples in Chittorgarh, Kalika Mata Temple of 8th century is dedicated to the Goddess Kalika, considered the benefactor of Chittorgarh. She symbolizes power and courage and bestows happiness to her devotees. The belief is that initially it was a Sun temple built by King Bappa Rawal belonging to Sisodya Dynasty. Somewhere during the 14th century, Maharana Hamir Singh installed an idol of Goddess Kalika idol whose worship has continued since then. The architectural design and style is superb with intricate sculptures and carvings. An annual festival is celebrated with gaiety here.
