Kanyakumari food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Sight seaing Our visit at Kanyakumari is 3 days arround 15 peoples. We reached by Ananthapuri Express from chennai to nagercoil and travelled by a mini van to kanyakumari. Day 1 Kanyakumari. A small temple dedicated to Kanyakumari , or the youthful form of the primeval energy Shakti (Mother Goddess) is located on the seashore, in the town known by the same name. Kanyakumari represents the site where the spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda spent days in meditation upon a rock off of the coast. A memorial built in his honor is accessible via ferry. There is also a recently built memorial to Tiruvalluvar, the author of the philosophical work. Gandhi Mandabam & Kamarajar Mandabam are the memorial buildings of our Country father and King Maker. must be visit place once in a life time. Evening beach games like volly ball, swimming etc. nice stay at hotel. Also most important seen is sun rise ad sun set in a same place. Day 2. Check out from hotel and travlled the same mini van to Susindram Temple, Padmanabapuram Palace, Mathur Thotti palam (2 nd Highest Channel bridge in Asia), Kalikesam water falls. All around 70 km (max) from nagercoil town. Check in around 8.0 pm Hotel Udpi at nagercoil. Room rent is arround Rs 1000/room twin sharing basis. Day 3. Hotel Review of Indien Hermitage
Comments: The drive to the hotel was ardeous and tough, keep your phone handy for directions. The road is non existent for the last 1.2 Kms, so if you are the adventurous kinds you will love it, if you arent just hire a good car and wait till you get there. But once you are there, you will realise that all the effort was worth it. Its a new very well maintained property. The rooms are in cottages and just 9 rooms in total. But each one has a restored 200 year old teak carved door and very clean and large rooms with picture windows overlooking the mountain ranges. All the accessories in the room also are from the same antique time. All this with in air-conditioned newly built cottages. The good part is the open to air bathrooms with sunlight pouring in which have all the basic necessities (shower, loo and basin - no tub) and very clean. The best part is that the cottages are so aesthetically constructed with stone pillars and red tiles that the colour scheme is not out of place in a single place. The swimming pool is huge, one of the largest Ive seen and very inviting. Though i didnt try Im sure its a great trekking destination as well with mountains in the vicinity.
Best Experience: ave stayed at many good 5 star resorts, but this one comes tops on service, thanks to the owner Raju staying within the resort and making sure you are absolutely comfortable. He made every meal to order and since I was there with my Grandparents he took special care to make food without Onion and Garlic. We mostly ate South Indian and the Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Vada and Idly was very good. They may not have multi cuisine restaurant, but very hospitable staff who are always smiling and ready to bend backwards to serve you, which is tough to find even at some of the best hotels.
Worst Experience: he toughest part was the approach so if you are staying here like the owner had warned me look at a Min 2 night stay to enjoy the resort as going to Kanyakumari town will take usually 45 mins which you may not want to do too many times.
