Kashid Beach food, sight-seeing and shopping options
There are no options for eating out except the hawkers on the beach. The market is worth a visit as the fresh fish is a dream come true for all fish lovers. We picked up 6 kgs of fresh prawns for a meager 600 rupees and had them for snacks right through our stay. Murud-Janjira is situated near Kashid. Murud is an old fisherman town with a good beach. Janjira is a famous fort in the middle of the sea near Murud. The tourists can also visit the Nawab's palace, Ganapati Pule temple and the beautiful Birla temple nearby. About ten km from Kashid beach is the Phansad bird sanctuary. You can bike or walk the distance from the place you have put up to the beach. The vendors provide hammocks for relaxation, which they allow you to use only if you purchase something from them (very justified). This is good fun in the evening when everyone walks down to the beach. There is nothing worth buying unless you want to take back fish!
