About Kastaharni Ghat

Kastaharni Ghat is a sacred bathing venue on the Ganges River, which flows through the Munger District. The river is also known as the Uttar Vahani Ganga due to its flow in the northern direction. Local people believe that Lord Rama and Goddess Sita bathed at the site while returning to Ayodhya from Mithila.

The word 'kastaharni' means the bathing place which expels pain from the human body. There is small shrine at the Kastaharni Ghat which was built in the 6th century by Mudgal Muni on a rock.
