It was a family holiday. Most of the time was spent by the pool. The gym is good in case you want to work out after overindulging yourself at the restaurant. The rooms have a good view of the lake. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the sun set over the lake. A very restful holiday and the service was very good.

Karma Royal Resorts, Kumarakom, Kerala was the place where we stayed for 6nights. I was pretty happy with the warm welcome we have received and the hospitality that resorts staff have shown. I have planned my holidays to get exposed to Kerala beauty which I have been hearing from years about Munnar, Kovalam beach, houseboats and boat race etc. Not all this I could get however we (my family of 4) were fortunate enough to get there during ONAM celebration and have glimpse of Onam Celebration in Kerala during our stay at Kumarakom Resorts. During our stay at Resorts, Front Desk have provided support and quick action for whatever we needed on time. We had always smiling faces of staff members towards resorts guest while they were at work, which gave feeling that they are happy serving us and enjoying their work. Their happiness at work gives us confidence that they have fresh ideas & opinions followed by actions to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I met with Milind there, who came from Mumbai who introduced us with all available Karma Royal properties for holidays, including International destinations like Bali in Indonesia and place at Thailand. I would really say he explained it very well and created huge interest among tourists for amazing holidays. Our room was spacious, comfortable and have a good balcony with excellent lakeside view with sunlight. Interiors of the room was planned with a great sense of aesthetics. I and my wife liked it very much. Dining place ambiance was good and staff there was able to take good care of the guests. Staff person were very humble, soft spoken and committed to their work with smile on their faces. Good gestures. Construction wise this resorts was built on the pillars which stand in water. I had a little issue thinking what will happen if I drop my room key, mobile or laptop while walking on the ground which was built with pavements which has small gaps between them to get direct exposure to water while we walk on them. Otherwise it had nice appearance, ambiance and facilities. I enjoyed them all. Advice to travelers: Munnar, Kovalam, and Thekkady is little far from Kumarakom as 4 hours drive by car so better stay nearby resorts when planning to visit these places.
I visited Kumarakom with my family - this was my first visit to Kumarakom. I had been to Alleppey earlier though, which is nearby Kumarakom. I had planned for a short 4 day quiet vacation at a not so crowded place. Our stay at Royal Grove made this vacation very relaxing and memorable one, with the weather staying pleasant by and large. The setup was just the way we had anticipated it to be comparable to any 4 star properties. Overall, we had a wonderful trip indeed. Royal Grove was a perfect choice for a family accommodation - a small yet very beautiful property that has all the facilities required to make your holiday enjoyable and a memorable one. This resort is located is a serene setup on the beds of the Vembanad lake, longest lake in India. The place has all the essential facilities like a neat room with highest standards, excellent lake from every room balcony, courteous staff, free Wi-Fi, restaurant serving high quality hygienic food, gym for fitness freaks, nice well maintained swimming pool with clean water, in-house activities organized every evening for the families to network/enjoy and prompt room service to top it all. This property has only 24 accommodation units without the kitchen facility. The rooms are very neat, clean and well-maintained. The design and the layout of the pathways is the most attractive part the lake water and small foot bridges connecting the reception, rooms and the recreation area make this place adorable. The designers and the architects need a special mention for this. The trip of Kumarakom or Alleppey is incomplete without a stay on house boat. They offer house boat stay, though the charges on the higher side. However, as this private house boat is exclusively reserved for the guests staying at Royal Grove, the higher charges may be justified. Then, there is the Spa service available too, for those who want to rejuvenate themselves. The food serving time at the restaurant is on the higher side they take a minimum of 20-25 minutes to serve the food. The number of guests is limited as this property has only 24 rooms and this is one of the main reasons why buffet meals are not available only a la carte services. The quality, taste and the hygiene of the food served is of high standard no complains. The food is reasonably priced. Do plan a ride on the government ferry boat from Kumarakom to Muhamma the Kumarakom boat jetty is about 1. 5 km from the resort. You can slowly walk/take an auto rickshaw (tuk-tuk). The one way boat ride is about 40 min and costs only INR 10 per person.Reaching Royal grove is easy from Kumarakom, Kottayam or Alleppey. It is about 60km from Cochin/Ernakulam, 14 Km from Kottayam and about 35 km from Alleppey.
The resort is located on the banks of the beautiful Vembanad lake. The ambience is perfect and if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, then this is the place. It takes about 2. 5 hours to reach from the Kochi International Airport by taxi. From the rooms, you get a breathtaking view of the Lake, which is 262 square km area wise. Vembanad has the distinction of being Asia's largest fresh water Lake. You can see numerous houseboats passing by and yet given the size of the Lake, they aren't cluttered. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful. You can either leverage their dining room (Lake facing ) or their room service. Every room has it's share of the Lake view. The resort has it's own house boat and the ride was enjoyable for our family. You can rent houseboats in the locality if you want a longer ride. Every ride is reserved only for one family and this gives you a sense of privacy of spending time with your loved ones. If you have little kids, then the resort staff can keep them engaged through the children's activities that, they conduct regularly. There are also activities conducted for families and this experience is unique. The resort also arranges for trips to nearby places and you can try this on your own too. Allepey is just an hour's drive from Kumarakom and is renowned for it's boat races. We visited Allepey when the Onam festival preparations were in full swing. The town wore a festive look and people were decorating their places up. Allepey is also known as the Venice of South India. We also used the shikara boat in Allepey on the back waters and it was a wonderful experience. When you see all of this, you will realize why Kerala is called God's own Country. Nature is beautiful and in abundance when you visit Kumarakom. Overall, it was a very good experience and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation in the midst of their busy schedules. One piece of advice for travellers is to check for the weather before you plan your trip. Fortunately for us, it did not rain in the last week of August, when we visited this place. Overall, a big yes for both the place, as well as the resort.
We were there as a family of three for a short break of 3 nights and 2 days. It is a beautiful resort on the lake front with a wonderful ambiance. A little quiet though because the occupancy at the resort was low, but that didn't bother us. We enjoyed the quiet and peace. It is a small resort with just 24 rooms and spacious too. Even with an extra bed we had a lot of space inside. Loved the boardwalk across the resort with water underneath. Staff were courteous and helpful. The restaurant was empty mostly due to less occupants but the food served was delicious and good value for money. We ate all our meals there and almost went through the menu, never felt disappointed with the taste and service. The pool is nicely located and gives a feeling of infinity. We didn't venture out all through, so can't tell much about what's on the outside. The lake cruise is supposed to be a good experience and we saw a lot of houseboats going round the lake. Expensive though! Only problem we faced was with the air conditioning in the room. It kept going off frequently and the first two nights was bad with it not working. Overall it is a great resort, would love to go back there again.

Greetings from Kumarakom!
Thank you very much for your review on HolidayIQ. Glad to note that you loved our resort to have an excellent vacation experience.
Looking forward to welcoming you back soon, here at Royal Grove!
The main purpose of my travel was to take a break out of the hectic schedule. Kayal resort is the right place to be. Located along the banks of Vembanad, Kayal provides the real ambience for vacation goers. The layout of the property is great and the pool overlooking the lake gives superb blending with nature. The small lagoons over which the walkways are built is a real treat for the eyes. The staff are really caring and always keep a smile, which gives the guests a warm feeling. Resort has all amenities like pool, restaurant, gym, hall, recreation area, snooker table, spa and massage parlors. Outdoor play area is very little, which is a drawback. The main constraint for me was the cost of the food. Food is quite expensive, but you have the option to venture out to taste the local Kerala food at Hotel Dammam, Hotel Dubai etc which are reasonable. 'Karimeen pollichathu' at Dammam was mind blowing. Overall the stay at Kayal was a memorable one.
