A beautiful resort on the banks of the scenic Vembanad Lake, Asia's largest freshwater Lake. Our family stayed here for a short break during the month of May 2015. One can have a breathtaking view of the great Vembanad Lake from the vantage points gazing endlessly at the drifting weeds and houseboats.

This boutique resort has a marvellous architecture, with every room facing the Lake. We stayed at room 105 which is right on the Lake banks. The resort has a SPA and a Houseboat of its own. Unlike other Karma properties this are hotel units with no Kitchen and no snack bars and grocery store. The nearest town is 3 km away. The restaurant servers good meals but bit expensive. There are no eatery or shops near by. Polite and courteous staff and very friendly GM.

My kid enjoyed a lot at the kids pool and the 3 monkeys club activities. Feeding the fish was his favourite. The Resort and the Lake gives a spectacular and soul soothing view during rains.

The Resort has a unique program of wine tasting for the owner members, it's on all Mondays between 6 pm to 7 pm with free unlimited wine and beer.

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and nearby places are a worth visit. Would recommend a own vehicle for transport.

We had a highly refreshing holiday and looking forward to visit again during rains.

It was a Royal stay there with my family with a unique experience of relaxing in the Resort. The ambiance of the Resort was in full lush greenery and near back water sea water. The best part of our stay was that, it was within the walls of a village called Kumarakom and had a peep in the village life which was neat and clean. Had a ride in the Jetty, a type of small ferry which is operated by the Government with a very small amount.

Resorts is included everything. Location is super, place was excellent, rooms was extraordinary and services were OK even entertainment is super. Food is costly. Totally, it's not a resort, but it's like palace. We had four days and three nights stay. The resort's special is, it is near sea & near backwater. All indoor & outdoor activities very excellent. Everyday night entertainment activities were very different.

For our 25th wedding anniversary we couldn't have chosen a more wonderful place to celebrate than Royal Resorts Kumarakom. The first look took our breath away. The unique architecture of the resort against a stunning backdrop of the Vembanad Lake is the most serene and soothing sight to our tired city weary eyes! The spacious rooms all with stunning views, courteous service and well kept poolside made our stay extremely enjoyable. We even discovered an inexpensive way to explore surrounding restaurants and countryside by way of Auto taxi reminding us of TUK TUK rides in Bangkok. Our driver auto raja chenoy was a huge help and can be contacted for pick up, drop going around and reasonably priced boat rides.

Kayal Grove, Kumarakom is by far the best resort we have visited in India. Location is fabulous and resort ambiance is mind boggling. Rooms are very big, spacious and are maintained Spic and Span. Service rendered by staff is very courteous. My entire family comprising of myself, wife, son and daughter all in adult age group thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and look forward to visit this resort some time again in near future. I strongly recommend this resort to one and all.

The resort was located in the centre of the city. The resort was nice. The food was served in limited varieties and it was expensive priced. The room service was good. The room was spacious. All the amenities were in working condition. The Wi-Fi was provided by the hotel. The resort had organised games in the evening. The resort was value for money.

My experience in the resort was awesome. This is the first time I had been to resorts in Kerala. Food was good because I was a vegetarian and I cannot enjoy the food so much, of course it was expensive. The climate was also good. The resort was very clean and the customer service was excellent.

The purpose of taking the vacation was to have a relaxed holiday. That way this place is isolated, serene, away from bustle of town and city. The swimming pool facing the lake is superb. The area of reception and walkways towards restaurant, bar, rooms and activity area is constructed on a steel frame under which the lake water circulates in a small waterway, both fringes have very good flower beds and lots of greenery.

Though the service at the resort was to the mark, staff at the restaurant very courteous and quite understanding, they took special care for us regarding the food ordered, as we were more inclined to have food free from onion, potatoes, garlic and other underground stems.

The location is quite accessible from Kottayam Railway Station. It is just 15 kms. And if travellers are 2-3 persons, we get big auto rickshaws which charge about 250-300 Rs and are very spacious and convenient, otherwise cabs charge around 1000 Rs. The resort offers houseboat rides of 2 hours without tea, snacks and breakfast, 5 hour rides with lunch, tea and snacks and overnight rides from evening 5 to morning 8. The charges were reasonable.

We were offered away from the lake for the first two days, but later given the room just opposite the lake, but the room developed some water leakage problem, and again were shifted to back of the resort. The staff were very co operative and attended to the problems immediately. The bath rooms are designed in a new way, have very good balconies, where you can laze around for the whole of the day with a book and the views are simply superb. As we went during monsoons, the rains also added to the holiday mood. A perfect destination for the honeymoon couples, as well as for people who just want to relax at a place, not moving around for sight seeing etc.

The quality of the food was okay, not good and not bad at all. But prices were on a higher side when compared to the quality. A simple suggestion is to keep the prices of beverages like tea and coffee more reasonable. We felt that they are on a very higher side.

The resort is built up on stilts on water. It has an amazingly breathtaking view of the Vembanad Lake. The resort have courteous staff but, the restaurant needs to improve just a bit. The variety for the food is way too less. We enjoyed our stay and also used the House boat services from the resort. Apart from a few glitches that too was perfect, and in my opinion an amazing experience. My 4 year old daughter had an amazing time.
