Kedarnath Mandir is situated near the Mandakini River and is one of the Panch Kedars. The temple has a Shivalinga which is considered as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The structure of the temple is in the pyramidal form. The temple is situated in the middle of the Himalayan ranges.

It is believed to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya and consists of more than 200 idols of Lord Shiva. According to mythology, the Pandavas tried to seek redemption from Lord Shiva by performing an absolution in Kedarnath. Deities and stories sculpted on the walls of the temple can be seen by tourists.

"Beautiful temple in the midst of valleys"

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted Dec 21, 2015
A beautiful temple in the leap of Himalayan, around it is small mountain peaks covered with a little snow if you visit in July-August which is the best time to get their as after that rainy season create a lot of troubles. Visit the place in the evening as their is Aarti every evening in the temple and also the sunset looks charismatic between the reflections of snow and mountains. Don't carry heavy backpacks, and if you have any breathing problems carry oxygen which is easily available their. At nights keep windows of your rooms open as closed room must suffocate you and you can have problem like vomiting and etc. Drink only packed drinking water and don't forget to carry a walking stick it will be very useful for all age groups. Don't try any shortcut always be on the proper road as you could slip if chosen shortcut's.

It is an amazing experience to soak in the beauty, serenity & calmness of the trekking journey leading to the destination. The top of the hills relieve all the stress and takes one to a world of their own. An exciting 3-4 days trip which will leave you wanting for more and surely your heart will skip a beat if you have to go back to a metro city! The weather is amazing!

Most picturesque spot in Uttarakhand, unspoiled and non-commercialized hill station. Excellent getaway for trekking (round the year), a beautiful and peaceful place to visit with group. Easy trek of around 4 kms with amazing Himalayan views.
