Kempty Falls, situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, is one of the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain. This fall is located on way between Dehradun-Mussoorie path.

John Mekinan, in 1835, had developed this place as a tourist destination due to its panoramic surroundings and views. The name of the place is derived from Camp-tea, the place where Britishers organised tea parties during their ruling period.

The falls is one of the largest among five down rushing falls, which flows down through various rocks and finally enters into the plains. While going 12 km downhill and after crossing the Aglar River, tourists can also reach the Yamuna River. Further, the site is also popular for swimming and fishing activities.

The place is visited for taking bath under the falls and for enjoying the beautiful views of surroundings. Tourists can also reach a beautiful pond while climbing a few steps in the flow of the stream. Located at the footsteps of the falls, the pond is a huge enclosure formed naturally by the stream.

Tourists can easily reach the destination by hiring taxis or buses, which regularly operate from Mussoorie as well as Dehradun.

"Ok to visit once" new review

10 km from Mussoorie. To be avoided in holiday and peak seasons, as too much crowded and hardly get the chance bath. Changing rooms are not available by development agencies one has to manage with private and which are too much dirty and hardly cleaned by them. Swimming pool & boating facilities developed by agencies which and included in entry fee (Rs. 150/- per pax) and also very well-maintained. Road towards the falls are awesome.

It is very nice place to visit, I got some amazing pics there. I can't forget that place. It will be hard to get your eyes off the mesmerizing Kempty falls. This place will fill you with extra energy, but avoid visiting there on Monsoon.

"Nice point to watch" new review

It was a nice place, but very rush area. Pahari fruits are awesome, take a bunch of them. You have to go down a lot to actually enjoy the fall. Its in very bottom, alternatively you can choose an upper fall also where not a huge rush.

You must visit Mussoorie but to relax only. Do not plan hectic sightseeing schedule as nothing is there. You need to just enjoy the nature and relax there. Choose hotel in a beautiful location but surely visit Kempty fall for refreshing in such a cool place.

"Enjoy the natural fall" new review

This place is very good to enjoy with your family to feel natural fall in hot summer. It feels to have a temperature of below 20 degree, try at least one time when you are Mussoorie in summer.

Reached there using the ropeway to save time and energy. Water was very cold but once you're inside you can enjoy it very well. Get under the waterfall and you'll feel the power of water.

"Not so good" new review

  • 4.00/7

Kempty fall has turned into dirty swimming pool. Now is a hub of business, not natural now. If possible avoid to go in lower of fall as you will find 100 people bathing in that fall pool. Just see the fall at upper road side.
