Kempty Falls, situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, is one of the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain. This fall is located on way between Dehradun-Mussoorie path.

John Mekinan, in 1835, had developed this place as a tourist destination due to its panoramic surroundings and views. The name of the place is derived from Camp-tea, the place where Britishers organised tea parties during their ruling period.

The falls is one of the largest among five down rushing falls, which flows down through various rocks and finally enters into the plains. While going 12 km downhill and after crossing the Aglar River, tourists can also reach the Yamuna River. Further, the site is also popular for swimming and fishing activities.

The place is visited for taking bath under the falls and for enjoying the beautiful views of surroundings. Tourists can also reach a beautiful pond while climbing a few steps in the flow of the stream. Located at the footsteps of the falls, the pond is a huge enclosure formed naturally by the stream.

Tourists can easily reach the destination by hiring taxis or buses, which regularly operate from Mussoorie as well as Dehradun.

"The place is only good for photography" new review

  • 5.50/7
  • Posted 3 days ago
Don't jump into water at all, people have made this place a garbage place. Nice location for clicking photographs, the cost of food is high and quality is poor. No security available, the group of goons was there who were making peoples life difficult. They were busy in passing weird comments to the girls.

Very good place to visit, there is a rope way downward to reach at the sight for which you have to pay. If you want to take bath under the falls, locker and swim suit facility is there but poor arrangement.

"A better thing to be in Mussoorie" new review

  • 6.00/7
  • Posted 2 weeks ago
The only thing which I had loved after the maggi point is Kempty fall. This place is awesome and like a heaven on earth and the best time to visit is in mid of July. Mussoorie is mostly famous for Kempty fall, except that I don't feel anything better in Mussoorie. You can find hotels with every comfort but they are not cheap and especially in summers they charge too high.

Very cool place to enjoy and have fun with family as well as friends. Enjoyed a lot, food is also good there but a bit costly. You see a lot of travellers there, mostly all people go there.

Kempty Falls is amazingly beautiful and a nice place to visit with your family, we happened to visit there in Feb and it was a great experience, the whole view of water falling down is amazing. There are some food stalls also but you must try hot maggi over there, it tastes better there.

"Excellent experience especially for kids" new review

Kempty Fall is like a main attraction in Mussoorie, we happened to go there in January this year, so it was quite freezing and the water was also very cold. We took lots of pics around the water and we spend almost whole day there. It was an excellent experience for all of us, specially kids.

Awesome place to go with family or group, you have to take a shared cab to visit Kempty falls. Cab charges are Rs. 60 per person per side, it is a must visit place of Mussoorie.
