Kempty Falls, situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, is one of the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain. This fall is located on way between Dehradun-Mussoorie path.

John Mekinan, in 1835, had developed this place as a tourist destination due to its panoramic surroundings and views. The name of the place is derived from Camp-tea, the place where Britishers organised tea parties during their ruling period.

The falls is one of the largest among five down rushing falls, which flows down through various rocks and finally enters into the plains. While going 12 km downhill and after crossing the Aglar River, tourists can also reach the Yamuna River. Further, the site is also popular for swimming and fishing activities.

The place is visited for taking bath under the falls and for enjoying the beautiful views of surroundings. Tourists can also reach a beautiful pond while climbing a few steps in the flow of the stream. Located at the footsteps of the falls, the pond is a huge enclosure formed naturally by the stream.

Tourists can easily reach the destination by hiring taxis or buses, which regularly operate from Mussoorie as well as Dehradun.

Must visit these natural water source, very cold water and you will love that. Be cautious, may drown into the water. Carry extra clothes, some home food too as food is not available in quality.

"The water is pure" new review

  • 6.00/7

The presence of man made swimming pools also enhances your mood freshness. The purity of water in Kempty Fall is by nature and the music of falling is awesome. Children above 12 years enjoy the most. Parking is a problem since too many tourists visit the place.

We liked the waterfall, the weather was very chilly, but we enjoyed the waterfall in the pool. That experience was very new & adventurous for us, cause this location is not possible in our Delhi.

This was the first time we had visited a waterfall landscape and I must say it was truly unforgettable experience for us. I would have stayed on for some more time if allowed by the authorities. Everyone should pay a visit for sure.

Mussoorie is known for some great tourist spots and one the most important is the Kempty falls. The cascading falls with the crystal white playing its way to the bottom.

"Nothing great, waste of time and money"

  • 1.00/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Not to be called attraction, nothing is left, place should be called dustbin, so much of litter at this place, everything natural has been destroyed. Just waste of time and money travelling to this place as we have to travel 14 kms upward from Mussoorie. Shops and shops and shops, terrible view. More Maggi than water!! Seems like an artificial waterfall.
