Kempty Falls, situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, is one of the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful waterfall, which falls from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain. This fall is located on way between Dehradun-Mussoorie path.

John Mekinan, in 1835, had developed this place as a tourist destination due to its panoramic surroundings and views. The name of the place is derived from Camp-tea, the place where Britishers organised tea parties during their ruling period.

The falls is one of the largest among five down rushing falls, which flows down through various rocks and finally enters into the plains. While going 12 km downhill and after crossing the Aglar River, tourists can also reach the Yamuna River. Further, the site is also popular for swimming and fishing activities.

The place is visited for taking bath under the falls and for enjoying the beautiful views of surroundings. Tourists can also reach a beautiful pond while climbing a few steps in the flow of the stream. Located at the footsteps of the falls, the pond is a huge enclosure formed naturally by the stream.

Tourists can easily reach the destination by hiring taxis or buses, which regularly operate from Mussoorie as well as Dehradun.

Lovely place for those who love stream waterfalls. Silent place cool temperature. Water sounds hissing. Too pleasant, lovely place to spend with the better half. Once to visit the place in life time.

"Visit Kempty Falls on the higher altitudes" new review

  • 5.00/7
  • Posted 6 days ago
I would recommend to visit the Kempty falls located at the higher altitudes on the hills (which ultimately become the mail Kempty Fall). The water at the heights is very clear & the atmosphere is serene. The actual Kempty fall may not be that serene & appealing.

"Beautiful spectacle of water fall" new review

  • 6.00/7
  • Posted 2 weeks ago
The weather was great, the day we decided to go to Kempty Falls. I loved the view the water and everything, but the only thing I didn't like was the stairs we had to climb while going back as it was too tiring, but there were too many things to like such as the water, the mountains view at the back and water fall view from below, really it was very beautiful and we took lots of pictures.

Must visit these natural water source, very cold water and you will love that. Be cautious, may drown into the water. Carry extra clothes, some home food too as food is not available in quality.

"The water is pure"

  • 6.00/7

The presence of man made swimming pools also enhances your mood freshness. The purity of water in Kempty Fall is by nature and the music of falling is awesome. Children above 12 years enjoy the most. Parking is a problem since too many tourists visit the place.
