Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Karla
Comments: We were a group a 6 people who went to Lonavala on 20th June 08. We took a train from Hyderabad to Lonavala (Mumbai exp) and reached Lonavala at 10:20 AM. From there took auto (3 autos @ Rs 80 each) to MTDC, Karla. My first opinion after seeing the location is good and after seeing the room, I felt very good for that price.
Best Experience: Because of the vast location, it was very nice to walk in between the greenery. probably the occassional spell of rains at regular intervals added more beauty to it.
Worst Experience: Nothing worse but lot of pests (small insects) everywhere in the room

Well maintained but still needs to improve, safe & away from madning crowd of lonavla ..........main attraction near by is Bhaja & Karla caves worth going ......both caves are in opposite direction .........need to climb aprrox 200 steps for both the caves............. food at resort not to be mentiones........one home made food joint named JOSHI's....in city area near Police Chowky..........which amazingly provide veg & non-veg home made really good food............can go to bhushi dam.............hiking & treking near bhaja caves to...

It is a wonder how we survived the place without getting into a fight with the staff! The resort is built over a huge area and to say that it is ill-maintained would be an under-statement. The staff have a massive attitude problem and behave like govt babus. The place is great in itself. However, as expected (unfortunately), this place has not been exploited (in good sense) tourism-wise by MTDC. Again, the staff is laid-back and have a very "I don't own anything, neither am I responsible for anything here" kind of attitude. The food is below the standard expected. Overall experience was not great. We had booked the best cottage, which was nice from inside (not to be confused with luxurious), clean, etc. However, there was absolutely no landscaping in the resort, no activities, and no real notion of service. Overall, we had an okay stay because it served the purpose of having a comfortable place to sleep after trekking to the caves. But the resort itself is in no way a recreational place in itself....

The trip to Karla resort was an entirely relaxing and rejuvenating experience..
