Kodaikanal food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Sightseeing:
Kodaikanal has a whole lot of scenic view points, a huge star shaped lake, few parks, few waterfalls, forest area. The kind of places you would want to go depends on the age group as well as the kind of activities you would want to do.Lazy morning walks, and spending time around the lake in the evenings are heavenly. So don’t spend the whole day visiting places. Green Valley View, Pillar Rock, Guna Caves, Pine Forest, Shanti Valley View, Upper Lake View, 500 year old tree are on the same route and can be covered in a day in around 4 to 5 hours. One day you could visit nearby picnic spots like Berijam Lake or mannavanur.Bryant park, Chettiar Park,Lake(boating), Bear Shola Falls, Kurinji Andavar Temple, churches, can be clubbed in a day.Dolphins Nose/Echo Point, Lion Cave/Pambhar Falls are places that would need a good deal of trekking. So do consider the age/health of everyone when planning to visit these. Also make sure you are wearing the right kind of apparel and footwear. And plan these treks on the first or second day of your stay as it can be really tiring. The hotel or resort folks can help with information based on the type of activity you are interested in.The local taxi drivers can take you for a ride by offering packages with a whole lot of names on them. These might be places easily accessible by walk or those that are literally next to each other. So make sure you do enough research before deciding upon the cabs.
Food: Now that can be a bit problematic or rather repetitive. The food offered at resorts or hotels are usully not very satisfactory taste wise.Astoria, Meenakshi Bhawan and Hill Top are few popular restaurants for veggies like me and these provide pretty good food at budget rates. There are a couple of star rated hotels like Carlton or Kodai International for those particular about class. There are also a couple of dhabhas like Rasoi, Tava. Some of these close pretty early though. In all tourist spots and along the lake you get hot yummy corn, steamed ground nut salad, mangoes and best of all steaming cups of masala tea that can really pep up your senses.
Shopping: Home Made Chocolates, spices and oils. These are available in almost every other shop but the taxi drivers or hotel guys can help deciding where to buy good quality stuff. These chocolates are really delicious and so put off all your calorie considerations and do relish their taste while on this trip. Some nice varieties of fruits like lychees, star fruits, plums are also available

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
Comments: I had a fabulous time in kodai international. The service is really excellent and the employees are very friendly.Breakfast is excellent but lunch and dinner are ok.Weather was very chill and kodaikanal is always an excellent place to visit and stay in kodai international adds more memories about the trip
Best Experience: Normal check-in time is 12 pm only but i arrived at 9am but still they are flexible enough to allow check-in without charging for additional day.The whole stay itself is a best experience. They have a big garden ,water falls is really excellent and basket ball court and nets to practice cricket and TT board and they conducted lot of activities specially camp fire and dance in the night. They served an never forgettable breakfast.Service is really good.
Worst Experience: The location of the hotel is not that good,it has lot of other hotels surronded by and looks like more commercial one. Rooms also looking like a typical hotel room and not like resort. When I was checking out credit card machine didnt work so I had to wait for an hour

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
I visited kodai with my wife from 14 to 17th of April. As they have a booking office at Chennai, (on a crowded street opposite General Hospital) it was easier for me to reserve the room. We drove down from Chennai via Trichy, Dindugal and Vathalagundu. At Kodai we couldn't go to Berijam lake due to some ristrictions at that time. Apart from that we visited all other places. The major activities for the 3 days...

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
Kodaikanal is a very very good hill station...must visit...and if in Kodai i guess Kodai International is the best place...i really liked the appearance of the hotel...it has its own waterfall, a huge park area, a huge lawn area, just wonderful. the food was really really good. we had taken the kurinji blossoms package for 2 nights in a deluxe double room...we had been there during the diwali holidays and i dint get thru a reservation directly from the hotel...but...

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
It was a pleasant stay at a comfortable place. Travel desk has various options for sight seeing. Most of the places are nearby, but not walkable. If you own a vehicle then, its pretty convenient. Else, you can rent vehicle to go around places. Inside the resort, you can find a beautiful Rose garden, nice children's park, a rabbit farm[?!] and you can see a beautiful small waterfall nearby. You can also get volleyball or table tennis or some other indoor...

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
Well what to say about Kodai International- it’s superb!, As we entered the hotel campus I decided that this is the only hotel where we were going to stay. First we were deciding to stay at hotel Carlton or Villa Retreat, but both hotels are not so flexible with the visitors- this is what I think. We stayed there for 3n/4day; Kodai charged us for 3 days as we checked out on 4th day at 2pm, and Carlton and Villa...

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
Though Kodai was a beautiful place at one time, remnants of the beauty can yet be seen in certain places, but the overexploitation of the area has marred the beauty. Kodai International is situated in an area already overcrowded with hotels & resorts. The Packages available seem reasonable, but when one experiences the Food served in the restaurant, pathetic would be an understatement. Breakfast was a totally south Indian, the only non-south indian things were eggs and bread. The so-called...

Hotel Review of Kodai International, Hotel
I went to kodai to with my wife. The main purpose of the trip was to take a break from work, rest in a cool place and spend time with each other. The trip served the purpose completely. Kodaikanal is a nice town in mountains. A very clean and average beautiful place. The lake is good. The activites, be it Shikara Boad, Bicycle, Horse Riding around the lakes are too good. So evenings were very good. The hotel is a...
