Hotel Review of Vedic Village, The
Comments: Whats lacking in service (restaurant, bar as well as front desk) is made up by the location and the beauty of the resort.
Rooms are large and comfortable and great seating on the outside.
Best Experience: Excellent banquet service - since I was on work. Very courteous banquet folks and very helpful.
Worst Experience: Front desk refused to check me in for over 2 hours saying the room was getting cleaned! was infuriating! Cabs not available on demand - there is a 30-45 minute wait time to get cabs. Breakfast menu is very average and besides 1-2 items that are bengali, the rest is standard south indian fare! Bar service is painfully slow.

Very poor. Our room was cleared out before we had checked out and some valuable items were taken from our room and thrown in the rubbish. The hotel manager was at first unhelpful and then abusive towards me. I gather that I am not the first person to experience this. Also the Vedic Village is no longer the quiet tranquil place of two years ago. There is a huge expansion of the resort and the building work is loud...

Our flight was delayed so we reaced kolkatta at midnight and even though we had a tourist Taxi we reached the hotel at 1.30. The roads are bad and there are hardly any signs so we got lost and had to retrace twice. The rooms are nice . Service is laidback. As i was participating in a conference we had only breakfast there. Amazing what a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city its only a short distance from the city and yet there nothing there to remind one of the 'Chaotic CALCUTTA'.THE only way to describe the place SERENITY,SOLITUDE,PEACE and Splendid..2 thumbs up. If u are there in KOLKATA a must visit even if just for one night best if u go at least 2-3. :)...
