Kottakovil is located on the northern side of Dharmapuri District. One of the famous temples built for Lord Shiva, it is home to many rare sculptures and paintings. Maintained by the Government and people of Dharmapuri, the temple also contains the 'Hanging pillar', as its most prominent highlight. Legend states that there was once a secret passage in the temple that linked it with Adhiyamankottai.
