The Kuzhipillykavu Jaladurga Temple is situated near Kalady, in the town of Perumbavoor. Kuzhipilli refers to a temple in a pit. The temple has Rudrakshashila as its main deity, which is a manifestation of the three goddesses, Bhadrakali, Saraswathi and Durga.
It is believed that devotees worship this idol as Bhadrakali, who killed the demon-king Dharika. There are also idols of Lord Ganesh, Santhi Durga, Brahmarakshas and Balabhadra.
According to a legend, the Rudrakshashila was hit by a tool while digging a pond and it started bleeding. On seeing this, local people started believing that the Rudrakshashila had divine powers. The idol was discovered from a pool, which is why the deity at the temple is also popular as Jaladurga.
