"We had mixed feelings when..."

We had mixed feelings when we completed our vacation. We had planned to visit Thekkady during Christmas holidays last year. This resort was our choice after looking around at pictures provided by travel agents and going through various websites. The overall ambience of the resort is good with the generous dose of greenery engulfing the resort and the location. The resort is developed in a 53 acre plantation of tea, coffee and pepper, and the feeling of staying there is awesome. The front desk is neat and traditional in appearance and the frontal view of the resort is extremely pleasing. The cottages and rooms are well appointed and the resort is eco-friendly and clean.

Best Experience: The ambience at the resort was green and fresh, and the best experience was the morning walkers\' pathway wherein you could go around the resort on foot. The nature is abundant, and the path takes you through the plantation and around the tree house which is atop a huge tree. The cultural show in the evening was the best experience. The traditional dances with the troupe were the best experience and we surely miss that sight.

Worst Experience: The food as part of the package was nothing great to write about. Not that the menu lacked in innovation, but the preparation didn\'t justify the names the dishes were allotted. The food lacked the taste of any region, and the chef seemed to be a complete novice at the job. The most appalling experience was the attitude and service of the staff, which was nothing great to write about. The staff showed no concern towards the guests, some of us had paid exorbitant amount to secure the package, this being the most sought after week. The service was pathetic, especially if a request was made for any food item, it was refused bluntly. The manager did show some concern, but got lost when asked for packing up our lunch as we wanted to leave early.

You can't choose a better location for mountain resort. But the best thing is you feel closer to the wilderness. But inside the buildings there is scope of improvement.

"I had been to Carmelia..."

I had been to Carmelia Haven in Dec. Jan 2004 with my wife and son. The resort itself is majestic. Surrounded by thick vegetation and home to the largest cardamom plantation. Food was great. Air is pure and the atmosphere is rejuvenating. Place is hospitable in true Kerala style.
