The Lake Palace in Udaipur was built in 1743 -1746 by Jagat Singh II. It was built in the middle of Lake Pichola over the backdrop of beautiful Aravalli Mountain. The palace had been the summer palace for several rulers in Udaipur and was the hiding place for British families during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Currently, the Lake Palace is a property of Taj group and is used as a hotel. Famous personalities like Queen Elizabeth, Lord Curzon, and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy have stayed and admired the beauty of the palace. The hotel has its own boat service to transport the guests from the land.
