Lalit quarter - Excellent location with a beautiful backdrop, luxurious accommodation with decent and courteous service support with a timely attending requests. We drove from Bangalore to this place in Mysore by our little Nano car. Location wise it's near the foothills of Sri Chamundi hills and less than 6 kms from City railway station and bus stand, with nice approach roads leading to the hotel. Housekeeping was reasonably good where-in one has to get the things done as per your likes-and-needs Room where we stayed was a deluxe suite with full comfort with king size bed, decent AC, cable TV connectivity, attached bathroom with bath-tub, shower(over-head and hand-held), balcony with swimming pool view. Also, had small fridge for keeping cool stuff, decent wardrobe for upkeep of belongings. Great swimming pool to beat the heat and cool the heals. A tennis court and billiards board with a party hall for enjoyment. Decent food with great dining hall for more comfort. It has beautiful banquet hall, decent and spacious reception area with smiling reception staff A decent vehicle parking space. On request, get special local sightseeing arrangements for self. Nice Maharaja chariot for a ride of 2-3 rounds of the hotel with a decent mannered Horse keeper. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with nice hospitality received from the hotel staff, came back with very well content.
A heritage hotel with vintage items in good working condition includes the lift. Anyone who appreciate and loves the old world charm or someone who want to experience a stay other than in a conventional hotel or someone who wants to have a glimpse of princely living will simply fall in love with this place. It is in Mysore a place which does not require any formal introduction. Though it comes under Ashoka Group and has a superb infrastructure, maintenance especially the outdoors, garden, poolside etc. is nowhere comparable to other five star hotels. In a nutshell to put it…...it is not real as you see in the website or virtual tours of Lalithamahal Palace. Infact the compound is so huge you can have a mini brindavan garden around the palace. The hotel was ok, worth for the money in terms of the service, cleanliness, spaciousness and the rich heritage. Breakfast was good, lunch and dinner were ok but do not compare with other five star standards. We opted for buffet as it works out to be economical for the family and you have plenty of choice. You can have really relaxing time at ‘The Saphire’ with the accompaniment of live music reminding you the Maharaja time. The artwork in the high ceiling of dining hall and furniture in the front lobby simply mesmerize you to a world of chandamama story. Most of the guests seems to corporate guests or foreigners. Staff was warm and courteous though not highly polished. Expected to be some more well verse in manners and etiquettes or lazy??? Basic Tariff and other details of facilities are given in the website. It has a nice bookstore, and three other stores that sell jewelry, silks, and Indian handicrafts respectively with some good stuff. The stores are a little overpriced. During our two days stay I could watch movie shooting also there. The security guards had a tough time to keep away the locals who wanted to watch the movie shooting. Sight seeing will be arranged by the hotel if you wish to and book in advance. A chariot ride is also available by the palace. Since the location is outskirts of the city having own transport will be an advantage. I could see many travels and taxis have parked their cars and vehicles in the same premises itself. You need to approach the travel desk for taxis or autos. Most of the places like Brindavan garden, Mysore palace etc are within few kilometers of reach.
When we were planning our trip to Mysore, we did want to spend at least a night in the famed second palace of Mysore - the Lalitha quarter Palace. So, we adjusted our plans so that we got a room availability at this hotel-palace, and decided to just end our trip here by spending a day of peace and quiet and relax. There was a lot of expectation regarding this place, but after spending a day here, we realized that it was only misplaced hype No doubt, the palace impresses in all its sheen and grandeur, but looks can be deceiving. When we first arrive, the room was not yet ready during check-in time and we had to wait 30 minutes for the room to be ready. Hospitality was missing from the time we arrived. There was no one to receive the guests when we drove into the entrance. There was no clear communication regarding check-in, car parking, and unloading the luggage. Everything had to be asked of the security. There was not even a valet parking available in such a posh hotel. A hotel run by the Ashok group, I would never have expected to be like this. The gents at the reception were very courteous and one of the young gentlemen gave us a quick tour of some of the biggest and opulent rooms in the hotel. He was very friendly and cheerful When we checked into our room, again we found that it was horribly maintained. There were just two power outlets and one of that was not working. The other had a spike buster, but the sockets were burnt out and unusable. In fact even the switches were broken. Finally we had to contend with just *one* power socket for our entire stay. Another irritant was the leaking faucets. So much water is being wasted in this hotel (and imagine Karnataka always complaining and fighting about water shortage), not just in our room but also in the posh room that we were given a tour of Finally, food was extremely pathetic. Actually it tasted good, but there was absolutely no choice. There were no starters, sad choice of main course and desserts. In fact, for each course/cuisine, there were probably two or less dishes. In total, for an Ashok group hotel it was measly having a total of probably 10 dishes (from starters to dessert together) for lunch. The room service menu on the other hand was much better laid out. The lesser said then about the breakfast buffet the better. It was cold, tasteless, and the staff was rude and inhospitable. They didn't even replace the cutlery from the previous table. Would never recommend this place !.
Mysore is a city with history and the place remains quaint and the place there is very relaxed. I had been to Mysore several times and had done all the sightseeing there in detail and at leisure. This time, the visit to Mysore was purely to savour the experience of staying at the magnificent Lalitha quarter Palace Hotel. It is located on a vast expanse of land. It had been there for an occasional lunch and a cup of coffee, but never to stay. The balcony of the room was facing the pool and we had a delightful view of the well maintained pool and gardens around the hotel. We could also see the majestic Chamundi Hill from the balcony. The bathroom was sufficient, however we did not get hot water for the Bath as the boiler unit had burst and was under repair. The dining room was awesome place and one could feel the atmosphere as it was during the hey days of the palace. The breakfast could certainly had been better though the lunch/dinner was good. The service was excellent by the hotel staff both house keeping and the front desk. The bar was worth a visit and it has a pool table within. All in all, I found the stay enjoyable and memorable.
This is one of the places to stay at Mysore if you want to experience a royal life Starting with the looks it was just mind blowing;it actually looks like a fort The room also reminds you of the old style but has all the modern facilities. There is also free WiFi available so that you can browse or do your job while enjoying the place Talking about the location it just feels too good. There is a sense of peace in the air and the place is really well maintained. There are various good spots to take photographs as well The food was also good and I got to taste some brilliant recipes There is a good swimming pool, tennis court as well. The walls are decorated well with good paintings Overall I would like to say that this is a place you must visit to experience the heritage.
