Lemon Tree Hotel, Bangalore
55A, Hosur Main Road Electronics City Phase I, Bangalore
I am a Senior consultant who travels extensively to all the metros in India, living my life from a suitcase and sleeping and eating at different places all the time. So the key factors for me when I critique or appreciate a hotel or resort are: - Travel Time to and from place of work - Pick and Drop to and and from work to the hotel - A very comfortable bed to sleep. (a bad night sleep spoils the entire next day) - A hygienic and spacious bathroom. - Tasty food even if the variety is less. - Non intrusive staff who go about doing their work as if invisible. - Amenities like a pool and a gym and 24 hours free wi-fi. So how did Lemon Tree fair on all these parameters: Travel time to and from work place - It is an apt choice for anyone who has her or his office in Electronic City or in its vicinity. Most key organizations are 5 to 15 minutes away from the hotel, some even walkable distance. Pick and Drop to and from work to the hotel Well the package my client has with the hotel does include a pick and drop free of cost. Though I am not sure if it is standard. The cars used - Etios, SX4, Swift Dezire, they are in great condition, clean, without any odor of sweat or agarbattis, and the drivers are friendly. The Bed Lemon tree has one of the most comfortable bed that I have slept on. Its soft but not so soft that you will have a sore back in the morning. The bedsheets are spotless clean and are very smooth and easy on your skin. The pillows are just with the right amount of firmness. I slept like a baby every time i stayed there. Bathroom. The best thing about this bathroom was the pressure powered shower which showered on you just the right temperature of warm water. It is spacious, hygienic and has most bathing accessories that you will need. Food The breakfast was part of the package. Lot of options - Indian (south and north), Continental (good spread), South East Asian (a couple of options). The food is made for an International pallet and Indians may find it less on spice, Gaurav one of the chefs who dishes out on demand parathas/ egg omelets does a good job. The dinner you have a buffet and a menu to choose from. The Buffet will cost you 600 + taxes. This includes startes main dishes and dessert and no drinks not even soft drinks. The spread is good again but as I mentioned earlier it is made for international pallet. If you are staying there for more than a couple of days, you will start feeling bored of the food. The fish dishes especially if it is smoked or steamed are healthy options. If you are a north Indian you will find the Panner not up to the standard. Their rice dishes are good whether its Biryani or Corn rice and so are the daals. The Dessert - The ice creams and some Indian delicacies are good, but the pastries do not meet a 4/5 star standard at all. They also have packages where dinner is inclusive check for that. Staff and service The staff is friendly and non intrusive most of the time, except at your dinner table. I had an instance of at least 4 different servers coming and asking me what my room number was, which was very offensive. I brought it to their notice and was promised that it will never happen again, but unfortunately it did happen again the very next day. Amenities They do have a swimming pool and a gym which are good, though I am yet to try them, They also have a lounge with a pool table, a business center and a couple of other watering holes. The Wi-fi connection in the room is free only for 30 minutes and is chargeable after that. You could however get 24/7 wi-fi connectivity in two cases, 1. You booked online or 2. You have a package which included wi-fi. The connection is good. The charges for a 24/7 standard connection is Rs. 750. Overall I liked the place for its friendly staff, a real comfy room. and the proximity to my place of work. Some advice Book a cab to for Airport pick up and drop. The hotel charges Rs. 1800 while you will get a Meru cab to drop you in Rs 1300 maximum. But if you want peace of mind book with the hotel. Carry your swimming costumes. If you have an early morning flight check out the previous night, post dinner If you are traveling early morning, ask the hotel to pack you a breakfast. Oh and don't forget to read some lovely trivia and jokes framed on the walls near the lift and on dinning mats at your dinner table. Smart thinking by the hotel. So hope this review help.
