Lodurva is situated 15 km north-west of Jaisalmer. It was the capital of the Bhatti dynasty till 1156 AD. The location of the city on a medieval trade route of the Thar Desert exposed it to repeated attacks by foreign invaders. The city was finally abandoned after Mohammed Ghori’s attack in 1152 AD, and a new capital was established on Trikuta Hill in 1156 AD.
The major attraction of Lodurva is the Jain temple dedicated to the 23rd Jain Tirthankara, Lord Parsvanath. It was destroyed by Mohammed Ghori in 1152 AD but was built again in the 1970s. Other places of tourist interest include the Hinglaj Mata Temple, Chamunda Mata Temple and the Old Shiva Temple.
