Lonavala food, sight-seeing and shopping options
We had lunch in the same resort which is not that expensive and the taste was just about OK. Then we decided to hire a taxi. The receptionist of the resort arranged one for us for Rs 1050 and it included a package of 5 hours & 6 destinations etc. We first went to the Monkey point, then to the Sunset point, then to the Lonavala lake, Dam, Lions Point and in return visited the Ryewood Park, another Dam (its a private Dam owned by Tata Group) and in the last visited the Karla Caves (though we didn't go inside the caves because the entry will be closed by 6 PM for general public) and came back to the Resort at 7 PM. Probably the good thing is ..where ever we went there were occassional spell of rains and we really enjoyed. When we were travelling, bought Chikki and Fudges at Maganlal and A1 Chikki shops which were on the Lonavala main road. The next day, we spent our time at leisure doing the below recommended things under 'things to do' section.

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Lonavala
Comments: Sterling Lonavla is has a rather dilapidated appearance from outside.. the rooms are however very spacious and big, with french windows opening to views outside. Some rooms face the expressway and the hills in the distance, while the other side rooms face the small Tungharli hillocks and private bunglows. Not much activities, the hotel has a small swimming-pool which could do with better maintenance. If you are staying here as a time-share member, then its defenitely worth the money. If you are a non-member, you should consider other options also !
Best Experience: Spacious rooms with comfortable split air-conditioning. View from the expressway-facing rooms was nice. Service in the restaurant was good, the staff remembered us from our last visit a year back!
Worst Experience: Toilet doesnt flush properly, the lever makes a loud metallic sound when pressed, and half the water spills outside to the floor ! Wardrobe is open, doesnt have doors. No footmats outside the bathroom. Food was oily, though tasty.

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Lonavala
The resort! Hell, you cannot call this as a resort! It is just a block of cement! The poor condition of the so-called hotel is pathetic. The restaurant looks like a canteen of a government organization. The food is awful and the rooms are not worth living for even a few minutes. Only good thing were room air-conditioners (though many times day electricity goes off and the management may not even start generator). The overall look is filthy. By the...
