MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli, Tarkarli
Ranked 8 of 107 hotels in Tarkarli
The Konkani Hut was in terrible shape ! An insult to Konkani's. They were cutting down many trees within the campus which was noisy. An excavator was working on the beach front for the hotel which was also very noisy. No water sports etc after nearly end of May 2017. Not much Veg only food restaurants in MTDC resort or nearby. Not worth travelling such a long distance if there is no water sports.
I went to Tarkarli during the month of December 2016 and booked the rooms in the MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli . It was my holiday trip with family. The destination Tarkarli was average. My hotel location was very good because of transportation facility. The appearance of the hotel was good because it is clean and neat. I would rate the front desk staff as good because of their responsive ontime. I booked my room through online. The services which were provided in the hotel were very good because of quick response and politeness. Rooms which we stayed in were good with facilities and hygiene. I would rate food as good because of taste and price is not high.
During the month of February I visited this hotel, it was for business purpose and I went alone. The destination was really good; also the location of the hotel was nice. One could reach the hotel by car, cab or any other thing. The appearance of the hotel was good as the front view of the hotel was good; also the front office of the hotel was nice. Rooms in the hotel were good as the ambiance was really nice. The service of the hotel was not that good, they didn’t maintain the hotel. The foods and drinks available in the hotel were really good and it was available anytime. Wi-Fi facility was available in the hotel and it was for free. The overall experience of the hotel was all good and I enjoyed my trip.
As i mentioned in my review on tarkarli MTDC houseboats, i have been to tarkarli twice.. once i stayed in the house boats and the second time in the MTDC resort. i truly enjoyed both stays. The MTDC resort is well located and quite spacious. The resort directly faces the beach, so you can easily walk upto the beach from your cottages. We stayed in the AC cottages. while the cottages were clean, we found them a little dimly lit (probably it was because of their structure). They have hammocks tied to trees almost outside each cottage. We loved lounging in these. What i really liked about this resort were the little beach huts that they have made facing the beach. these were lovely to sit at nights and watch the moonlit sea. The only complaint i had here was regarding the food. while i loved the food served in the house boats, the resort food was quite sub-standard. also their menu is divided as per time, so the breakfast items will only be available during breakfast timing, lunch during lunch and so on. While the food wasnt as good, we dint have any options in the area, so we ate any way. Again, like the houseboats, you need to book the resort in advance as it gets sold out very fast, especially on long weekends
I had visited this hotel with my friend. The location of the hotel was awesome. The appearance of the hotel was very nice. The service was good. The room was clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was not available inside the hotel. I didn’t take the food from the hotel. The food facility was available inside the hotel.
Appearance of the hotel was good. The room allotted to me was good. The food provided to me inside the hotel, it was tasty and average in quality. There were no activities organised by the management. The trip was with family for relaxation. The tariff charged was three thousand per day. The stay in the hotel was value for money. AC, TV, was provided in working condition. Wash rooms were well maintained.
The appearance of the hotel was average. I didn’t taste food from this hotel. I had visited his hotel for holiday purpose with my family. The room facility was average in the hotel. The staff’s behaviour was ok in the hotel. The hotel was located outside the city. The Wi-Fi connection was not provided by the hotel. The provided room was maintained neat and clean in the hotel. The booking process was good in the hotel. The hot water facility was provided by the hotel. The room price was not reasonable in the hotel.
I am completely in love with this place. I visited this place second time with our group of friends and had an amazing time. Earlier I went there on my anniversary and I can say one thing for sure, whether you visit it as a couple or are on a family vacation or picnic, this place has everything for all. Located on the shore of Arabian ocean, the views are picturesque and breathtaking. Rooms are averagely maintained but food is good. They have small playground for kids and benches put acrooss the beach. You can watch the sunset while watching your kids playing. A good place to unwind yourself from work.
I travelled to this location along with my two other friends. Coming to the bad part first, food quality was absolutely pathetic and since no other better option was available nearby we had to live with it. Sleep quality was just ok and I would say value for money. Now coming to the good part, the resort opens on to the beach and the beach is very serene and clean. They have also created play area kids which is an added advantage of the vacation at this place. Average place to stay with a great location !!
The MTDC hotel is really nice, and to be honest doesn't look like one too. It has nice cottages with hammocks outside each one. You can laze around order room service and it is right in front of the beach. It is the best resort to stay in Tarakali - a great experience overall. The food was good though vegetarian is limited.
The MTDC Resort at Tarkarli is an enchanting place with beautiful cottages with its own hammock, a cloth line and a tap near the entrance (which any woman will vouch for its utmost utility considering the amount of time spent in the sea!). This tap water is so sweet that can be used for drinking also :) We had a beautiful time (my 5 year old daughter talks about it everyday even though we have taken her to many beaches). This is one place that you dont have to make any attempts to leave your thoughts on office or any other to leave behind, you step into this resort and it takes over you like your mother taking you in her arms and you automatically feel happy and relaxed.
Tarkarli has to be Maharashtra Tourism’s and ITDC’s best kept secret. How else do you explain the fact that even the average Mumbaikar has not heard of it? What do you get there? Gentle waves of crystal clear water, powdery silver-white sandy beaches which stretch for miles, lovely boat cruise on the tranquil backwaters of the Karli creek, the most awesome sea food at ridiculous prices, lovely beach-facing cottages in an idyllic setting. If you are lucky, some dolphins too. The MTDC resort is nestled in the midst of a casuarina grove with each of the 20 ethnic-looking cottages facing the sea. Hammocks and beach umbrellas are generously strewn all over the resort for those whose idea of a perfect holiday is a book. The aesthetically designed cottages look like huts from the outside. There are a few air-conditioned cottages which cost only Rs 400 more. The rooms are clean and functional as are the bathrooms. It is great value for money. Since there are only few rooms, you may need to book well in advance particularly if you plan to be there during the kids’ holidays. Efficiency is not the forte of Mr. Mithbaukar who runs the restaurant which is contracted out by MTDC. Nor is the quality of food. It is well worth your while to drive the 7 km into Malvan town for every meal (except breakfast). The food in Malvan (for the uninitiated, Malvani food can give Thai a run for its money as far as richness of flavours is concerned) is to die for. In particular, try Saiba which offers a great view of the sea and a really wide selection of food. Bamboo, Ruchira and Chaitanya are homely and have a limited spread. But the food is great as usual. Seer (Surmai), Pomfret (Paplet), Macherel (Bangra), Crab (Khekra) and prawns are staple diet in Malvan and Tarkarli. They don’t come better or cheaper than this. Every Friday, a large group of people traveling on the Deccan Odyssey descends on the resort for a few hours in the morning. Every Friday the resort dresses up for these train travelers. Ten rooms are perpetually reserved for half a day every Friday. If you book late, you might be among the ones who need to vacate their rooms for a few hours. Another thing to expect is frequent power cuts but the power was invariably back by 6.30 pm. The staff is friendly and helpful but the service usually slow. Did I mention that cellphones don’t work here, so chill. There are a few mosquitoes, but MTDC has thoughtfully provided repellants in the rooms. However, if you want to party outdoors, carry your own spray/cream. The Sindhudurg fort nearby, built by Shivaji in the 17th century, is also a must see. On your way back, don’t forget to buy Zantye’s cashews (very cheap), kokum and Malvani masalas at Deulkar’s or Anuradha. You can even visit the Zantye’s factory if you are interested. As long as you know what to expect, absolute nothing will disappoint you. Don’t know if this review was such a good idea after all. Next time I am there I don’t want to be run over by the hordes who will soon stop going to Goa!
Its beautifully located right on the beach and the best place to stay in Tarkarli, as no other resort or guest house is located on the beach or has a sea front view from the rooms. It offers a variety of staying options like A/c or non A/c cottages, rooms in a boat shape house, Houseboats, and a dormitory. All the cottages and rooms in boat shaped house gives you the beach view. Both Veg. and Non Veg. food is well served. They have Kerala Ayurvedic massage facility along with Water sports like Snorkeling, Speedboat and Water scooter. All water sports are carried out away from the main resort. Bookings can be done through net or by visiting any of the MTDC offices also note that during public holiday weekends the occupancy rate is high so prior booking is more feasible.

We 2 families both 2+1 booked Karli Houseboat for 1 day. It was done online. After reaching the MTDC resort tarkarli we came to know that the Houseboat check-in is done 2kms ahead. We headed there through signboards to find a small house, but no office. The boats are anchored behind the house. We got into the boat the staff was quite quick to bring our luggage into the respective boat. As soon as we checked-in the staff served kokam sharbat to welcome us on the deck. The cooked asked for the choice of food for lunch. The boat plunged into the backwaters of karli river to head towards the sea. After a ride of almost 1hr we reached the Sangam. The boat was anchored there. The place was called tsunami island where water sports were available. 6.30pm we came back again. Enjoyed Dinner on deck and relaxed till late night. Morning we were taken into the river side. the backwaters n brought back till 10.30 for check-out. In all fantastic experience. pros- Highly prompt, courteous staff. Food quality good. ambience good. Cons- Food quantity and variety not at all satisfactory. Food and fish lovers enjoy fish and food at malwan or other hotels at tarkarli and come to relax on boat.
