Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
Comments: I booked for the MTDC Resort Online for 26th and 27th aug @850/- per day (excluding meals). We reached the resort early morning on 26th Aug. The person manning the reception counter was most unpleasant. the room that we were shown was located at a short distance. the area occupied by the resort was huge but seemed to be poorly managed and kept. i had booked for a family room (FR # 11). The room was large with 3 unkept iron beds. the linen and the bedding was damp. the blanket was torn. the entrance to the verandah of the rooms had been fenced using tin sheets..(it did not seem like a hotel room for a vacation but was like the military barracks that my jawans in my battalion stay in).. the inner room had a sofa set that was not maintained at all and looked like some antique junk furniture. the windows all had gaps from which any peeping tom could easily get a good show of u bathing (or for that matter...ur intimate moments with ur beloved)..it had an eerie air about it and seemed like a dungeon. the room service was poor. the breakfast that we ordered was delivered in silver foil packets with disposable plates. the tea was served in a thermos flask which again looked age old alongwith plastic disposable glasses ..( one will not feel like having the tea after having seen the thermos flask). and the guys everywhere are looking for tips or the leftover money will not be returned back to u (so do remember to tender exact change)...electricity failure is a common thing in mahabaleshwar due to load shedding and there was no generator backup. the room was infested with giant sized mosquitoes which looked well fed... i and my wife decided that we would checkin into Hotel shreyas the next morning even at the expense of losing out on the money (Rs 850/-) that we had paid for the rooom the following day. I sincerely urge all u holidayers not to stay put over here. we must teach unhospitable service providers a lesson...(at least the govt need to wake up to the realities of the open market where bigger and better facilities are available at competetive rates
Best Experience: the only good thing was that the bathrooms had good bath fittings and seemed to be renovated....although the window panes seemed to have been neglected
Worst Experience: the staff was not at all courteous.. we rested on the bed on completion of the first days tour at approx 1600hrs . it was then that i realised that the blanket borders were torn. (it felt like we were staying in some refugee camp). i called up the room service to change the blankets but was queried wether there were holes in the blankets. on replying negative i was told that it was ok and only the borders of the blanket was torn. i insisted that 2 new blankets be provided. they were delivered in a short while when we were about to leave for the market in the evening.i erred by not checking them. when we returned in the night and i used the blanket i found that it was smelling rotten beacause of the dampness and i and my wife decided to use the torn ones (atleast they were not stinking). this was like the last straw that broke the camel's back and i and my wife decided that we would checkin into Hotel shreyas the next morning even at the expense of losing out on the money (Rs 850/-) that we had paid for the rooom the following day. We were frustrated and we checked out on 27th morning to reach a better place (Hotel Shreyas). Last but not the least ...the hotel is located approx 3 - 4kms away from the market and the taxis charge u 40/- every time u want to travel.

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
HORRIBLE! 1) The rooms were dirty and hadn't been cleant. 2) There was garbage around the rooms. Other vacationers are partly to be blamed as well, they have no civic sense and throw their bags and bottles around. MTDC has made no effort to clean the souroundings though. 3) The food at the restaurant was Pathetic, not to mention extremely overpriced....

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
I went to MTDC Mahabaleshwar during Diwali 07 holidays(Nov 2,3,4). Booking a room at MTDC is quite easy, agents are spreaded throughout Mumbai for the same. U can call at their help line available at following link: http://www.maharashtratourism.gov.in/mtdc/HTML/MaharashtraTourism/Default.aspx?strpage=../MaharashtraTourism/MTDCConnect/Contact_us.html They can update you regarding avilablity at any of MTDC resort. Next reaching there, it was a famous place at Mahabaleshwar, taxi person took 50bucks everytime you need to come to main market(Near Bus-stand) from MTDC resort but it guarentees a quite calm and...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
MTDC Mahabaleshwar was the biggest surprise in terms of location, ambience, food availibility and service levels we encountered. This is our third trip to M'war and first at MTDC.The place is located centrally, close to Venna lake, around 3-4 key points like Mumbai Point, Needle Point, Ludwick point(??).... etc. Its an ancient colonial type structure, with real fire places(now of course filled up, plastered), spacious rooms(we stayed in a family room) with high ceilings....the facilities are practical, bare minimum, there's...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
Stay at MTDC in Mahabaleshwar is worth it only because it is nicely located in forested area. It is very calm and peaceful, but that is about it. Food is just so so, rooms are damp. Not much to entertain you except television and the play garden for kids. Mahabaleshwar is such a beautiful place, you would not mind staying anywhere!...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
The location & overall impression of the hill resort is very good. Some may not like its being away from the crowded markets of M'shwar.I liked the quiet place. The rooms need better cleaning & attendants. The electrical & plumbing works need an overhaul. I will suggest MTDC to display boards about how one should take care of his car -mirrors in particular. The monkeys arround seem to be interested in 'plucking' the mirrors!Beware!! The resort should have more recreational activities in the...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
MTDC Mahabaleshwar is one of the best resorts MTDC has. The beauty lies not in the star hotel amenities but the very location in the lap of the nature. I have seen many private hotels of Mahabaleshwar but enjoyed the stay at MTDC the most....

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
Although we had gone just after the monsoons, we expected the rooms to be aired, warm, clean and comfortable, specially since we had booked in advance. Instead we were greeted with a damp room, damp floor. It felt as if we were sleeping on wet beds. Maintenance of the rooms is nothing to write home about. We had earlier stayed at the MTDC Konkan huts at Harihareshwar and had expected similar rooms - not five star comfort but clean and...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Mahabaleshwar
Located near the town’s central marketplace the MTDC resort at Mahabaleshwar is a quaint little setup which from the very moment that you enter it tells you that you are on a holiday. Unlike most other MTDC resorts the Mahabaleshwar resort is not well publicized. What I mean to say is that in all other location where we have gone to the MTDC resorts the location has been clearly indicated through boards and direction signposts. However in this case the...
