Mahad is a small town as well as a popular sightseeing attraction situated near the city of Raigad. The town lies on the banks of river Savitri and is known for its water agitation facilities. A Kranti Stambh is also present in the place in the memory of this agitation, which was headed by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. A memorial in his honour has also been built in Mahad, which comprises of ancient monuments and caves.

The most popular tourist attraction in the place includes the holy shrine of Shri Varad Vinayak Temple. This shrine is one of the ‘Ashta Vinayak’ shrines in the state.
