Manali food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Its a great place to shop for Tibetan artifacts, Juices, Jams and Squashes and fruit wines. There's a lot to see too - the Beas river, the nature park (a pine forest in the heart of manali), the temples, the Mall Road with its shops and restaurants, Old Manali with its interesting shops and restaurents, Rohtang Pass ...

Hotel Review of Highland Park
Comments: I Had been to Manali and choose to stay at this resort during the 3rd Week of Feb 2007. The Reason for choosing the resort was the fantastic location it is situated. You have the river on one side and Snow Capped Mountians on the other side.
I would rate my overall experience with the Resort as average for the following things
a) Eventhough the resort is located in the best place in Manali , it is quite far from the Main Resort, hence causing inconvience if you intend to do some sightseeing in Manali. (You need to cough up 150 Bucks for each trip to Mall / Main Street in a qualis, so roughly for 3 nights stay you end up shelling around 300x3 = 900 Rs alone on transportation)
b) The Food is quite expensive , you need to shelve out 30 Bucks for a cup of coffee !!.
c) I was promised that i would be provided Badam Milk everynight and there would be a coffe maker in the room , which was missing and i had to remind our friendly staff that i am missing these stuff in the room
Best Experience: When we had been to Manali, we had an very good experinece of Snow Fall, it was a real pleasure to watch the Nature in this season.
The Resort staff was courteous , inspite of all the issues.
The Food was good
Worst Experience: a) The Central Heating in the Resort was not switched on during the day and in the evening , unless you raise the displeasure, the hotel manager expects you to manage with the Blowers that are provided and he feels that he done a favour by providing 2 blowers to you , eventhough the broucher and website of the hotel states that this hotel is a 'Centrally Heated Hotel'. This is not an answer i would be expecting after paying an exhobirant amount for the hotel
b) When doing the Booking , the hotel promised to provide a pickup and drop, when i reached manali and inspite of me informing the Delhi office , there was a no Pickup available at the Bus stand and the Manali contact given a day before by the Delhi Office , was a month's vacation !!!. I had to make my own pickup to go the resort and when i called the resort , he seemed to awestuck that i had arrived in Manali ..
c) There is a promise of Hot Water available 24 hours made, when you intend to move out before 8:00 AM, you get a information, that the boiler would be switched on NOW !!, Not sure on what do they mean by 24 hours hot water supply.

Hotel Review of Highland Park
Hotel is good but it is a bit too far from the main manali hip-hop. On the web site it says 3 kms but it is actually around 7 kms. Not worth going so far unless u go by own car. But even then, road from manali mall road to the hotel is too bad, there is no road at all...but anyways we enjoyed the stay, except the far-away part. View from this hotel is very good, complete peace, one...
