Top Reviews of Manas Resort
Igatpuri was wet, wet all the way. It did not stop raining it all, and the weather was chilly. We were, therefore, cooped indoors almost all the time. We tried to venture out when it cleared, but the fog soon drove us back. Not that Igatpuri has much to offer anyway. Manas Resort is tucked away three kilometres from the main town, and there is nothing around to visit. Unless you count the local Ghatandevi Mandir as a charming visit spot. If the weather had permitted, we could have visited the Vipassana Centre. The next nearest visit spot is Bhandardara, 40 km away. Not advisable, unless you have driven there (We went by train). The Manas Resort has little to offer by diversion. There is a games room with a TT table and come carrom boards, but the room is musty and had developed leaks. There is a mini swimming pool, but as I said, we did not wish to turn into icicles. The one area I think they can shore up enternatinment is in the TV/movies section, especially for wet spells. They have excellent hardware — Flat Wall TVs — in the rooms, but the software is quite inadequate. The cable provides few channels and unfortunately, the channel we wanted to watch (HBO), as it was showing good movies that day, was unavailable. I don\'t think it should be difficult for them to hook up an inhouse movie channel. Having said this, our stay was quite pleasant. The cottages are spacious and well maintained, the food is alright (especially their melting butter cookies and omelettes), and the service deserves special mention. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Manas split into two resorts, Manas Resorts and Manas Lifestyle Resorts, last year. The elder brother Sanjeev Karambelkar got to keep the more spacious Manas Lifestyle, which has a spa and a massage centre and many more amenities, I am told. The younger brother Nitin Karambelkar got the tinier Manas Resorts, but is keen to add a few rooms. Nitin Karambelkar is interested in art, and plans to display paintings in the complex. Right now, the only diversion for the guests at Manas Resort is a shop that sells stylised wooden and ceramic knick-knacks. The products are brandnamed Thyme and have a quaint, antique appeal. Even the elegant room furniture bear the same brandname, and each displays a price tag: you can buy replicas of any of them. Travelling from Mumbai was jinxed, our train was late and the roads were full of potholes, but the return train journey to Mumbai (Godavari Express) was pleasant. Overall, Manas gave me the impression that it catered more to corporate groups than individuals. Nitin Karambelkar appeared to oversee things just a day before a large party was due to arrive; thankfully we had the place to ourselves during our stay. We are not complaning.
stayed in Manas resort for 2 days with family. Stayed in valley view cottages that have the best amenities and excellent view of the valley. The resort is huge, has open restaurant that served some very good punjabi dishes.
Stayed at the Manas Lifestyle - different from Manas Resort (though next to each other). Was skeptical after seeing the reports from other travellers. Pleasantly surprised at the location & the courteousness of the staff. Rooms were very clean, had a nice sit out facing the lawn. The pool was the highlight with 3 different depths-2 for children & 1 for adults. Food was a let down with the menu being repeated. Had programmes for Diwali - ghazals, DJ & firecrackers (didnot happen much due to rain). Have good place for TT, badminton, etc with a nice child play area.
Igatpuri by itself may not have any other attraction but Manas Resort can be a destination by itself. In fact, when asked where I spent my x\'mas, I don\'t say \'Igatpuri\', I just say \'Manas\'. My whole group, right upto my 2 year old granddaughter, was way too happy during the stay there and when we left, we all felt the holidays have come to an end tooooo sooooon!!!
For all the busy people of Mumbai this is a great destination which is aprox 2 hrs and 15 mins from Mumbai. Manas Resort is located not exactly in Igatpuri but ard 3 - 4 kms prior to Igatpuri. A perfect joint for a 2 night stay in Monsoon, the resort provides a great surrounding and atmosphere to make you relax and peaceful from the chaos of the city. Manas Resort has goot decent Villa/Cottages & the room service i quiet decent. They have the plans from continental to american as an optional for every Villa.
