About Mandarmani Beach

voted as clean

Mandarmani Beach is among the popular attractions of the coastal town, which extends up to 13 km. The beach is counted among the longest motorable beaches in India.

Positioned at a drive of 3 hours from Kolkata, the location is frequented by tourists to view beautiful sights of sunset and sunrise. Red Crabs on the shore are one of the highlights of the beach.

"Ideal place for Weekend Break" new review

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 3 weeks ago
A comfortable 3 hour drive would take you to this haven a clean, beautiful and serene MOTORABLE Beach. YES, the Beach was a pleasure that I can't put in words. Not very commercialised you will find some quaint resorts dotting the Beach. Our resort arranged for a small bonfire for our group by the Beach which was amazing.

Water Sports are also there and you can bargain on their rate card. The Red Crab Area is a must visit although they will hide as soon as we drive close to them. Beware of driving beyond the recommended limits on the beach, your Car may get stuck in the sands!

"The fest treat in the Ocean"

  • 6.5/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
It was after the college fest that we all club members of NIT Durgapur decided to visit the place. We all started in the bus at night and reached the place in the morning at 8. Let me tell that the moment I stepped down it was like wow!

The whole place was covered with fog and we travelled up to the Beach to see it and the view was mesmerising. We returned back to organize our stay. We booked a hotel (the hotels are cheap if you just want them for keeping luggage and getting freshen up) and after that we ate breakfast which was also at a very nominal cost. Then what it was the time to kick off for the Ocean which was very active with waves and with a group of 20 people you can enjoy like hell. Apart from that it has a many other sport activities like Paragliding which is very good and some rides like the Banana ride which is nice but I fell from it in the middle.

Advice: Try Bargaining as much as possible for the rides like if they ask for 200 you begin at 50 and eventually he will come down to 100, that's the trick.

Rest of the place is very nice. If you have a large group you can stay over night and have bon fires near the sea. All the best!

"Long Beach"

  • 4.5/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
Beach is very long with some parts of the beach being very dirty due to string of hotels and continuous run of local diesel vans ferrying passengers across the beach. Beach part close to the Mandarmani Bus Stand is much better than drive of private Cars along the Beach is now prohibited. There is a narrow but driveable road that now runs along the whole end of Mandarmani, running behind the resorts/hotels.

"Mandarmani Beach - Beauty of the Mandarmani"

  • 3.5/7
  • Posted 1 month ago
Mandarmani is a good beach place. It has good some resorts and some good hotels also to stay. But at the same time, I wish to add that if you wish to visit there, then

1. Do not pay the extra money for stay at the beach side resorts as it is no use. One can stay at little inside hotel also as you have to go inside the beach through the main pathway.

2. Earlier there people say, vehicle used to go up to main beach but now they stopped, hence one has to take the services of the Local desi FATFATI TYPE RICKSHAW to visit the beach far side to see the crabs.

3. If a person is pure veg, then you have very limited choice of meal. Only two good hotel where you may enjoy the good veg meal, but do not forget to check the rate of each food item else, you will be cheated highly, which is common in a tourist place.

4. Mandarmani Beach is not so good as compare to the nearby three good beach within 30 KM so if you have your car - very great.

5. Tajpur and Udaipur Beach are very good as compare to Mandarmani but may be not having good hotels/resorts to stay. So you may plan to stay in Mandarmani but must visit to TAJPUR, SANKARPUR AND UDAIPUR.

"Yet to develop many things"

  • 5.0/7

The beach is pretty awesome but this destination is yet to develop as a tourist destination. The infrastructure is not well developed. No good Joint to eat. But the beach is pretty good as it is not at all overcrowded. Good place to rejuvenate from hectic busy schedule.

"Peaceful beach"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted 2 months ago
Less crowded, clean, huge, windy and what else can you ask for in a beach. It's a local beach with lots of turtles which you can see if you get lucky. Private seafood fresh sellers, tourist open jeeps take you to show turtles and give you a memorable ride on their cart. Overall a beautiful and peaceful beach.

"Average beach"

The beach is not as clean as the beaches in western India like in Tarkarli and Goa. It runs along a fisherman's dwelling so lot of fish stench, fish waste as well as human waste like litters in that part of the beach. There are as such no activities around so its better to bring something along to pass the time.

"Not a great beach"

  • 4.0/7
  • Posted 3 months ago
The beach is too far out and is too muddy. It is more of a fishing beach with fishermen hut nearby. We had a run on the beach and the kids got some shell to take back. Small crabs were also underground.

"Very clean beach with awesome Red Crabs view"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Sep 11, 2015
The Mandarmani Beach is cleaner than the Digha Beach. Local transport facility is also available to take a ride of the entire beach. If you get up early and if weather conditions are good, you can go to a place named Crabs Beach, you will see Red Crabs surrounded all over the beach, it's an awesome view.

"Clean and calm"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Aug 17, 2015
The beach is clean & calm, a good place for a peaceful time, few water sports are available at average rates. Its not that safe during late night as the beach will be empty from the evening time but better than the Digha beach.
