Alibaug food, sight-seeing and shopping options
the Kolaba fort which is around 700-800 meters away from the beach is walkable during low tide.....tide timings approximately are 3pm to 6pm its definitely low tide n morning time around 12pm is definitely high tide.... at the fort itself there are some amazing views of the sea and otherwise just ancient broken down architecture n one beautiful temple..... try ur best to go to the beach during low tide so u cn walk 2 the fort as it is more fun rather than taking a horse cart ride which charges 160 for two ppl for a return trip and a hour of time at the fort itself...
nothing to shop as such but things are cheap there..... there's even one big reebok showroom with gr8 discounts

Hotel Review of Big Splash, Hotel
Comments: At first you do not sport the place when you drive by, but once you are inside you are in for a little suprise. The resort has green lawns which are soothing to eyes.. the room was well maintained with A/c working perfect. overall a rating of 6/10 on the relaxation factor. The Kerala massage parlour was really a good discovery and I am a life long fan of kerala massages now. :)
Best Experience: The message at the kerala ayurveda centre located right inside the resort
Worst Experience: calling up the room service and being told that please walk down to the restaurent or you need pay the service charge...as if we were asking to get something totally exotic or out of the way

Average facilities in a small town, which has nothing but a small beach. The good point was reaching there through ferry from Gateway of India. Rest is waste of time....

Big Splash is a decent place, and is good value for money. Its near the Bus Depot and in a fairly crowded locality. The place is being spruced up and I think it will be a good joint after Nov '05 or so. The Swimming pools are clean, but the water park timings are irrational. The restaurent is just about decent, but they dont serve konkan seafood!!...
