About Markanda (Offbeat Attraction)

voted as clean

The small town of Markanda is located on the left bank of Vainganga River and is named after Markandeya, a popular sage. The town has many temples and is quite popular for the ‘Shiva Linga’ that was once worshipped by Markandeya. The construction of the twenty-four temples gives it the impression of the Khajuraho Temples.  This town is worth a visit for the lots of traditional attraction, art museums, its cuisines and many more attractions.

You feel a kind of calm at this place, loved the view of this place and place is also nice for picnics. Just loved the view from the outside and very nice from the inside as well. This is a temple which is very old and a nice place for picnics.

"Markanda impressive sightseeing"

A well place for weekends with lot of temples and a huge lake shore view of the huge Wainganga river. There are historic temples at the river side with historic monuments. Best place for darshan with 12 jyotirlingas and other famous monuments incarnations. Good place for couples visit. Calm and quiet with not much public. Must visit. It is 40 km distance from Chandrapur near Nagpur city. The ocean like view a sight of water every where of the River Wainganga is quite impressive.

"Nothing so special!"

There are more than two dozen temple among one of them is Markanda. It would be great if you do a lot of temple visits. Architecture did remind me of Khajuraho Temples. It is about more than 150 kilometer drive from Nagpur. I particularly didn't like it that much.
