It is beautiful place to stay. I stayed with my family for 2 days. We had a nice time. Excellent location and cozy environment. Will surely come back and recommend others. A humble caretaker lady there. Near to main city area yet very quiet and calm. If you are travelling with kids then they have nice lawn to play. Excellent Place to stay and relax. We stayed at Marlborough House for 3 nights in Sep 14th 2013. It was indeed a very pleasurable experience to stay in the house. The property is over 100 years old and has the typical British architecture and well maintained till date! The location is too good - very scenic, calm, quiet and yet very close to the city. The small garden, stream and entire premises are well maintained and clean. The spacious and clean rooms with wooden flooring and big windows have a very beautiful view. The owners, Mrs. and Mr. Prakash Rao,are truly great hosts. They make guests feel at home with their caring nature and friendly talks. Even the caretaker, Jyothi, is very good and friendly. She takes good care of the guests as well as the property. The food she cooked was delicious and we were very satisfied on eating home made food . We loved the place very much and would recommend to everyone who likes to stay in calm and quiet place with sound of nature - birds chirping, winds and the leaves rustling - it's just wonderful!! Room Tip: The rooms on top have a very good view. Nevertheless, all rooms are spacious and clean.
We were a group of 7 people and checked this place out for a stay in Ooty. The place is nice and situated in a very good location. The surrounding was all lush green. Coming to the rooms, the rooms were spacious with good quality furnitures and beddings. Rooms and wash rooms were well-maintained. Food : The owner prepares food at their place so you get tasty homely food. For North Indians who want to have something different from usual can get it from outside as the place is at the centre of the town. Overall, the place was very nice and very good servicing along with courteous behaviour of the owner.
To stay at Marlborough was my son's decision. He had stayed here earlier on a trip with friends and was insistent that we spend a day. This was a family trip we took in the first week of December 2015. A small winding road close Charing Cross leads you to this quaint white house. Truly said I loved the place. It brought back fond memories of my childhood. The house, for me felt as if it was jumping straight out of the pages of Enid Blyton's Famous Five ( we were six though). The house has this wondrous mystic feel with wooden floors and wooden staircase and the stuffed animal heads. What was even more intriguing were the wooden floors, the giant size door-lock & key and the vintage fiat car that stands in the porch as a witness to the happy time and years gone by. The dining area boasts of the grandfather's gramophone that sits in one corner. The house is surrounded by nice well maintained garden. The house dates back to some 125 years and the owner Mr Prakash has ensured to retain the beauty of the bygone years yet at the same time to ensure that modern amenities are taken care of. The bathrooms are fitted with decent fittings and the bedrooms are neatly maintained. There is a slight musty smell though, this probably was due to the wet weather. If you are person who loves fantasy world and love the child in you this place is it but If you are looking for a luxury holiday this may not be to your liking. The accommodation comes with complimentary basic breakfast. Lunch and dinner are not served unless pre-requested. The care-taker family lives in quarters beside the main house and are soft spoken and friendly. I would love to go back there once more but this time with an Enid Blyton book in hand - sit by the big window reading even as I watch the squirrels scurry around.
The charm of the old Victorian style building and the hospitality of the hosts is out of this world. Stayed in the room upstairs. Room was well-maintained and comfortable. It's a nice quiet place to just relax and read a book. Nothing much in terms of activities but it's a central location to stay at and explore Ooty. Please stay in touch with the host for directions. I found the place was easy to miss especially if arriving after dark.
We stayed for the 5th time here on 07/08 March 2015. Three couples and a child. Enjoyed the stay, the hospitality of the caretaker and the excellent food on order. Strategically located. At the same time in a secluded nook as a holiday home should be. Easy to locate, just 2 minutes drive from St. Stephen's Church, a well known landmark in Ooty. Sprawling lawns and beds of exotic flowering plants are pleasing to view. Safe for children to walk and play around. Free parking space for say 4 or 5 cars within the property. East facing windows in the rooms welcome the morning sun. Rooms are recently refurbished. Comfy beds, hygienic wash rooms / bathrooms. Towels / soap are provided. Free wifi and cable TV. Striking British architecture, wooden interiors, ample antique curios around the Bungalow provide a retro atmosphere, a pleasant change. Dining hall is neat. Room service also available for food. Will be good if room heaters could be made available at a cost in case of need. Overall, a fantastic place to stay in Ooty.
