Mathoor Hanging Bridge or Mathoor Hanging Trough or Mathur Aqueduct is a popular place of tourist attraction in Kanyakumari. Mathoor Hanging Bridge is situated in Aruvikkarai village of Thiruvattar Panchayat of Kanyakumari District.

Mathoor Hanging Bridge is considered as the longest and tallest aqueduct in Asia. It was constructed in the year 1966 across the River Parazhiyar (Pahrali). This bridge has a height of about 35.2 meters and a length of about 1 km.

The trough called as Pattanamkal canal, carries water from one part of the hill to the other side of the hill. Mathoor Hanging Bridge was constructed for drought relief and agricultural support for the adjacent taluks of Vilavancode and Kalkulam.

There is a staircase from the top to the bottom of the Mathoor Bridge leading to entertainment facilities like children’s park and view tower. From the top of Mathoor Hanging Bridge a panoramic view of the place can be seen.

This is what I was not expecting. A must visit if you ever go to Kanyakumari. Its just a cemented bridge but at a good height. Do reach to the end of the bridge. From the top the view was excellent. Rain, green almost everywhere and dark clouds just made our day.

"Its also known as Asia's longest bridge!"

Worth watching this bridge if you're not afraid of heights. While going you must go through this bridge & you'll be able to see so much greenery. When you finish the walk on bridge then go downstairs & you'll see children's play park. Fun place to enjoy.

"Bit difficult to climb"

There are lot of steps to climb to go to the top, so if you're not able to walk please don't go here. The view from the bridge is worth seeing and must go.

There will be lot of people offering you pineapple, mango, and peanut, it will be fun when you walk the bridge, look down it would be great fun. You would be above the tall trees, below. The aerial view of water flowing below is nice.

Looks like narrow bridge but too high from ground. Honey available is not original and good spot for the kids to enjoy.

Mathoor Hanging Bridge is one of the most popular tourist attractions. The view from the tall and narrow bridge was excellent. It was totally green around. There was running water under bridge and we played there for sometime. It was different experience. Worth a visit.
