"The wettest place on Earth"

It is the wettest place on Earth. Every time there is rainfall, and this place is covered with fog. You must carry an umbrella. When you travel in a car, the scenes that you get to see around is really wonderful.

"Experience the thrill"

Everybody who goes to Shillong-Cherrapunji....should go to this place. There is a natural cave with a naturally made Shiva Linga. You can hear a stream of water flowing across at the very bottom, but it is extremely difficult to reach there. The natural flora and fauna gives a thrill to the nature lovers.

"With rains for company"

  • 5.50/7

Around 3 hours from Shillong, is the rainiest place on planet earth. Funny though, you will find the place wet, with a light drizzle but rarely will you find it raining cats and dogs. Must visit for the caves nearby.

Mawsynram is presently considered the wettest place on earth. I am very much confident that everyone visiting Mawsynram would surely like the place. There are many waterfalls in the place. The road from Shillong to Mawsynram is awesome. The journey is superb with breathtaking view all around.

"Stalagmites"

  • 7.00/7
  • Posted 9 months ago
In Mawsynram, there is a cave called the Mawjymbuin Cave, known for a massive Shivling shaped stalagmite. Beautiful setting all around, like at every destination in Meghalaya, expect some climbing up and down a flight of stairs. This place apparently clinched the title of wettest place on the earth from Cherrapunji.

About Mawsynram

The wettest place on earth, Mawsynram gets around 12 metres of rainfall annually.

Mawsynram attracts plenty of nature loving tourists who are drawn by its bountiful fresh air, clear blue skies, abundant greenery and lush waterfalls.

Mawsynram's other natural attractions include the Mawjymbuin Cave with a massive stalagmite shaped like a Shivalinga. Another small natural staglamite formation close to the giant Shivalinga is worshipped by the locals as Goddess Parvati.

The region also has an unique culture because of its ethnic Khasi and Garo tribe inhabitants.
