It is a good place and it was very conveniently located near to bus stand, I travelled by own vehicle. Restaurant in the hotel was very good and staffs were very cooperative. Rooms were good and well maintained but sometimes AC may not work. Outside is okay, they have good parking space behind hotel and they have two restaurant and bar in the hotel. Inside appearance is very nice. I had food and it was good. No delay in check-in and check-out process. I visited for a relaxation purpose with family. There are no activities and it was value for money. I suggest them to improve housekeeping.

The property as such is easily accessable for tourists going in to Belur, Halibeedu, and further south towards shringeri, Dharmasthala,Kukke Subramanya, Mangalore, Udupi and so on.
Nice, cozy hotel with courtious staff.Resonsive front office. Food is OK.

Best Experience: Plenty of car park area.

Worst Experience: Little unhygenic opposite the Hotel. i.e. the other side of the road.

I stayed at this place during the new year eve of 2012. I guess this is the only place at Belur offering clean and neat rooms with a decent restaurant. Many people tell you that Belur is only for Architecture and temples...but its a fun place too. We just drove around 3 kms from this place to Yagachi Dam and had a great time, the Yagachi water sports complex offer you jet ski's, Speed boats, trampoline etc.....This place also serves you to visit other nearby places like chikmagalur, Halebid, Mudigere etc.

Best Experience: The best thing about this hotel is the size of the rooms you get. The non a/c room was huge for the price we paid. Also the room is equipped with LCD tv, 24 hrs hot water etc. The other best thing about this hotel is the proximity to Belur temple, its just a couple of minutes walk from this place.
I bet the other best thing is that you feel you are not being ripped off for the price you pay.

Worst Experience: The service at the Restaurant is slow but food was quite tasty.

The KSTDC hotel, called Mayura Velapuri or Karnataka Hotels Belur, is located a few meters before the famous Chanakesava Temple at Belur. Newly renovated and built on a spacious campus, it is equidistant to Halebidu temples, Chikamagalur, Yagachi dam, or Hassan. Lacks the frills of a homestay or resort in picturesque Chikamagalur, but for just Rs.1200 a night you get a gigantic room with AC and Sony Bravia LCD TVs, clean and big bath with hot water, power backup, extra mattress, and space for children to play safely. The service is typical government style, so expect less and you will be happy. The food is just OK. We had yummy masala vada, masala dosa, and coffee at hotel Vishnu, a small cafe opposite the temple entrance. You can book online.

Best Experience: The egg-bhurji for breakfast as sinfully oily and spicy, but yummy! Being able to just walk down to the mesmerizing Belur temples, is a treat.

Worst Experience: Great place for couples of friends. Need to be ready to compromise if traveling with small kids, because the service is not very flexible. Our kid made a mess in the room, and they almost didn't clean the room saying "housekeeping will come in morning", until we used a mix of request-threat.

Me and 3 of my friends started from Toranagallu at about 7 in the evening and after a night halt at Chelkere, we reached Halebidu at about 9 in the morning (Route: TNGL-Bellary-Chelkere-Hiriyur-Huliyar-Tiptur-Askere-Halebidu). The Hoysaleshwara Temple was amazingly breathtaking. I have done my fair bit of travel but this is special. The detail in sculptures was mind blowing. The best way to appreciate the beauty is to visit the place. After finishing with Halebidu we came to Belur and checked into Mayura Velapuri (Belur was the 1st capital of Hoysalas before moving to Dwara Samudra (Halebidu), and the old name for Belur was Velapuri). The A/C room was super clean, the toilets were also very clean and the pricing was dirt cheap at Rs 1200/- on 24 hours basis. We had a good lunch, mind it the portions are large but taste is not the priority here. Service is prompt and casual. We visited the temple, Chennakeshawa temple which is similar in design to the Hoysaleswara temple in Halebidu in the evening. The only difference being that the diety in Belur is Lord Vishnu whereas in Halebidu it is Lord Shiva. The interiors of the temple in Belur are more intricate whereas in Halebidu you have a more detailed exterior, not the interiors of the halebidu temple are in anyway less spectacular. Both places are well organised, one has to have a good guide to show the details and the guides are available for Rs 200/-. We settled in early after a quick dinner. Next morning we left by 6 and came to Kammanagundi hills via Chikmagalur (20km from Belur) and came back TNGL via Shimoga-Chitradurga-Chelkere route by 8:30 in the evening. The trip was really enjoyable.

Best Experience: Halebidu and Belur temples............The drive.........Good music.........overall masti with friends..............Kemmanagundi hills and the nearby waterfalls...........the drive from Chikmagalur to K.GUNDI till Tarikere..........

Worst Experience: Leeches in the Kemmanagundi hills..........we went some distance off the road to get some landscape shots.....and before we knew the blood suckers had their suckers in us...........hahahaha
