Mewar Haveli, Udaipur

Ranked 54 of 760 hotels in Udaipur
This hotel is neatly tucked on the road, actually you cannot find it till you are standing in front of it.. Staff is very polite, rooms are neat, clean and spacious... This place is closer to the market as well the Palace, just walking distance... Lovely place to stay at... also their dining area is great and not to be missed as their food is also tasty.
The stay at Mewar Haveli was excellent because of the following reasons: Rooms - Very clean and well-maintained. Location is superb. Right next to the lake. I will always remember the rooftop dinners that I had in this amazing hotel. Reception - Very helpful reception desk. Our rooms were ready when we checked in. Food - Thumbs up. One of the best that we had in our entire Rajasthan trip. Hospitality - It was a perfect blend of professionalism and "athithi devo bhava". Please keep up the good work.
I stayed at Mewar Haveli from 15th to 17th Jan, 16 with my wife and kid. We were celebrating our marriage anniversary. Let's start with the positives first: 1. Excellent location - vicinity to Lake Pichola as well as City Palace. 2. Service friendly staff - be it at reception, during room service or in the restaurant, the staff was very cordial and well behaved. In short, they were very tourist friendly. 3. Interior decor - Though it's a small property with very limited space, the way it had been beautified with paintings and artwork was a real pleasure to watch. Be it inside the room, or the corridors, or the ceiling, every corner had been painted very gracefully, adding to the overall beauty of the haveli. 4. Value for money - If you are going as a couple, then it's an amazing value for money deal. For a family of 3 with 1 kid, the rooms are a little small to accommodate you comfortably, but it's still manageable. 5. View from the restaurant and rooftop - Restaurants and roof tops offering view of Lake Pichola are in abundance, but very few offer the view provided by Mewar Haveli. Now with the negatives 1. Room size is relatively smaller. 2. Food and beverage charges are a little expensive 3. Wifi is available only at the reception. All in all, if I were to visit Udaipur again, I'd stay here again.
Following a sudden change in travel plans, we went directly to Udaipur and got last-minute bookings at Mewar Haveli for 2 nights on Nov 22 and 23. On the 22nd, we were in a deluxe lakeview room 203. On the 23rd, we shifted to room 103, which was, we think, a superior room. Location: Ideal. Walking distance to all the tourist attractions like city palace, bagore ki haveli, and even to places like Hathi Pol, Bada Bazaar (where the locals shop), etc. Access by car is a little tricky given the narrow roads but great for walking around. Rooms: Both rooms are small (from a family viewpoint) but considering we were mostly out, were comfortable overall. Clean, neat, comfy bed/blankets, extra daybed in room 203, mineral water bottle, lovely decor with fine wall and ceiling designs, lovely framed paintings and designs with inlay work [this was a key feature all around the hotel along with pretty lights]. Bathrooms were clean and neat with shower, bath towels, hand towel, tissue, hand soap. Hot water was available in the mornings; didn't check later. Restaurant and food: Comfy restaurant as well as a rooftop restaurant. Food was fine, good variety, not over masala-fied (though we would have liked the menu to include some more authentic, simple Rajasthani cuisine items apart from gatte ki sabzi - could be mildly spiced to suit all palates). Meals on the rooftop were a treat, which has great views of the lake and sunsets. Aesthetic decor, furniture and well-kept plants. Quick service, friendly and polite staff with a good work attitude. Sanju at the restaurant had helpful tips on sightseeing and places to shop. Re: meal pricing, the rate at the hotel was similar to rates across places we checked out, being a tourist quarter. We went as far as Delhi Gate to another restaurant, and the rates were similar. But, yes, specific item rates differ. Many restaurants around the place so one can check out and also enjoy different food. Pleasant overall vibe. Harish Ji, the owner, is enthu, down-to-earth, friendly - nice chatting with him. He also has a shop with books and arranges for travel. All the other staff too were always polite and friendly. Hotel has a lift, so suitable for senior citizens. As we stayed in two different rooms on the two days we were there, our review is restricted to what we experienced on those two days. Later, we did go for dinner and it was pretty good. So, on the whole, we liked the place and recommend a stay. Room tips: Room 203 if you want the best lakeview (being the corner most room on the 2nd floor) and enough daylight, given the line of windows. Think rooms 202 and 201 would have fairly good views too. May need to book in advance. Avid TV watchers may find room 203 TV too small and way up. Room 103 faced the road but not a bad view.
This place is situated in the old city near jagdish temple, which offers you to have your food on the rooftop restaurant and enjoy the amazing view of lake pichola. Food and service is very good. Rooms are clean as well as space is outrageous. The place offers you with good environment around and makes you to visit the city easily with less tariff.
We were first time traveller to Udaipur for a weekend vacation in Feb 2016. Hotel has ethical interiors with neat, tidy and spacious rooms. The decor reflects the culture and history of Udaipur. The staff were courteous and property is very well-maintained. The food is awesome. The terrace restaurant is the key place. Overlooking the lake. The best place for an early morning breakfast overlooking the city skyline along and overlooking the lake. The decor and details given on the website were helpful and truly reflect the decor of the hotel. I wished I would have booked the corner room with Indian Baithak style balcony sitting space. Simply stating - it was a memorable experience and a very comfortable stay.
