Rude reception manager but location is the best

3.8/7
Posted 24 Jun, 2015

This resort has many disadvantages. The attitude and behaviour of reception manager was horrible. We reached the place at about 7 pm after a travel by air and road from Hyderabad - Bangalore - Coorg. It was drizzling and we were having our advance bookings for vernacular cottages. When checked in, we found that a small standard bed was given for 2 adults and two children of ages 4 and 2 years which can't even accommodate 2 adults. For the other room for 3 adults, a bunk bed in a small attached room was provided having NO VENTILATION. When checked with the manager, he was rude and we NEVER saw such a person in the hospitality sector. He was curt and NOT helpful. We have to call from our mobiles as there is NO intercom. We spent our night like that with small kids. I am a senior citizen aged 67+ and this bitter experience from the so called manager has really spoiled the mood There is NO good road up to the resort. One has to walk down if travelled by big bus and/or one should have own transport to reach. There is NO accommodation for your driver and you have to pay for his meal Rooms are NOT maintained well. NO HOT WATER in the Bath rooms except an hour or so in the morning on a sunny day One has to climb up to reach the room and for elderly it's difficult. No vehicle is provided even from the reception The tariff is high and the facilities are not comparable But the location is the best. For a tourist who wishes to spend time close to nature and in the midst of forest, the place is very good provided reception/manager appointed is courteous, tourist friendly and has a humane touch. The restaurant staff, especially Ms. Shina was good and courteous and preparations were good.

Hotel was far from the city but great experience

4.9/7
Posted 19 Dec, 2014

The overall experience in the hotel was great. I went there with my family. The hotel was far from the city. We liked the hospitality of the staff. There was no intercom facility in the room, that was the only problem. The market was around 20 to 25 kilometres away from the hotel. The receptionist staff were good and they were quick to attend to all requests. The hotel was situated in the jungle. We face any issue during check-in and check-out process. The appearance of the hotel lonely problem. The appearance of the hotel like interior as well as the exterior was good. The room was spacious, neat, clean and maintained. The housekeeping staff were daily changing the blankets, bed sheets and pillow cover. Complimentary toiletries were also provided in the room. We could see the nice greenery view from the room. All the basic amenities like TV, geyser and AC were working fine. Hot water was provided only in the early morning. The washroom was neat and clean. Food facility was there in the hotel and they served all types of the food like South Indian and North Indian. Quality wise the food was very good. Indoor and outdoor games were not there in the hotel. It was value for money which I had spent there in the hotel. I will surely recommend this hotel to other travellers. My suggestion is that they should provide intercom facility in the room. Ke interior as well as the exterior was good.

Hotel tariff was very high

3.4/7
Posted 9 Dec, 2014

The hotel was good. The tariff cost was very high and they charged double amount from me. I visited there with my wife. The location of the hotel was good. I didn't face any difficulty to reach the hotel and without GTS there was difficult to find the hotel. The best thing was its appearance. We just stayed there for only one day. The exterior was good and the interior was not that good. The staff behaviour was average. The check in and check out was little bit delayed. The room was not that great looking. The amenities like refrigerator was not provided and hot water connection was there. I outside view from the room was good. I had food from the hotel and it was good. The food quality and variety was good. The sightseeing trip was not organized for us. This destination was not valued for money. I will not recommend this hotel to other travellers. My suggestion is for travellers and that is book the hotel online, don't go directly.

Excellent stay with mouth-watering dishes

5.6/7
Posted 10 Dec, 2014

I was looking for a place to spent three days away from rush and noise. Misty Woods was selected based on reviews seen in the net. When you look for this, you will never get disappointed by the stay at Misty Woods. It provides excellent stay inside coffee plantations, fresh and pure atmosphere. Very cordial staff with tasty home-made dishes (both south Indian as well as north Indian) upon your choice . . While reaching the resort is an herculean task (as said by most of the reviews), once we reach there we will forget the hardships. The resort have so many amenities, the private water fall is the best. Swimming pool and gym is not maintained properly. The game section also poorly maintained. Rooms are at par & can rate as 3/5. Lighting inside is very poor. Interior and beds are neat. Staff are at your service at any time. Mobile range is available. Advice: Select these resorts if you're sporty. Not good for old age people, as reaching itself is tedious also you have to climb gradients everywhere inside the resort. Beware of insects and small worms in and around the resort (not dangerous ones). Windows to be closed before evening as advised by staff before sunset. Overall, experience: Very good for spending holidays.

It is low budget and comfortable hotel

4.6/7
Posted 30 Jan, 2017

My visit to Coorg in the month of December 2016 and stayed in the Misty Woods. It was my holiday trip with family. The destination Coorg was good to enjoy with family. The hotel location was good with necessary available at the nearest. I would rate the appearance of the hotel as very good. Hotel front office was good since they are always available with correct information. I booked my room direct at hotel. I would rate the services in the hotel were average. The rooms at the hotel were good because of facilities and decoration. The food which was served in the hotel was good, we can have a large menu of items.

I went to the hotel in the month of December and it was a holiday trip with family members. The destination of the hotel was good and hotel was located far away from the city. Inside and outside appearance of the hotel was very good. There was no delay in check in and checkout procedure. Services were provided on time. Rooms were spacious, neat, clean and well maintained. The food was delicious but limited varieties of foods were available. Other activities like gym, spa, swimming pool, indoor outdoor games were available in the hotel. Tariff rate of the hotel was reasonable.

Excellent service, mind blowing food served.

7.0/7

Misty Woods is really a resort located amongst woods which is Misty most of the time. I travelled to misty woods during December; one of the best times to be there. Skies are clear, chill is in the air. I referred to both their website before going there and it turned out to be accurate. (Never have I experienced that). The Page what to expect tells you exactly what to expect because they have mentioned exactly what they have The resort is inside a coffee plantation near the forest tucked away into the rural part of Coorg. The whole resort is on a small portion on the side of a big mountain, the architecture is truly respectful as they have not harmed the nature. Since its rural what you get is way more than what you expect. Excellent service, mind blowing food, extremely comfortable sleep and a real adrenaline pumping outdoor time. I went on the ATV trail and the off-road jeep trail, trust me it was awesome! They have experienced guys doing all this. You have an entire recreational club at your disposal. Too awesome natural waterfall for your relaxation and the green all around, what more can you ask for? As the Coorg resorts tariff scene is concerned I think this place is way under charged. This is like a star value property giving you service at a reasonable cost. Totally worth your money Most of this entire place feels like home, food served on time, games and activities at your disposal and you are completely free! You want adventure and relaxation this is the place to be. Go through their website's and you will get the perfect idea. Trust me nothing is exaggerated! Have fun travellers !.

Restaurant staff were very good

In December I stayed at this place, on a holiday trip with friends. An excellent destination for a vacation, the location of the hotel was very good, amongst nature and coffee plantations. The outlook of the hotel was very good, parking facility was available. The hotel had good service, staff's in the restaurant were very good. There was a little bit delay in the room service, food quality and quantity was very good. Chinese cuisine was the best. All three meals were included in the package. Rooms were very poor, there was a crack in the wall, and insects were there everywhere. There was some confusion during the check in. We had night safari, it was good.

Serene and dreamy in the lap of nature

7.0/7
Posted 3 Apr, 2015

As Bangalore started becoming a little warm in March, we decided to head to the hills to chill, recharge and replenish our souls. A friend from Madikeri suggested one of the oldest plantations in Coorg and the reviews and the photos of the place had all the promise of a leisurely stay. So, excited by this prospect and that of a nice drive from Bangalore (around 280 km), we set off with enthusiasm The first thing that struck us as we approached Misty Woods was that the roads close to the resort were not in a good shape. While being a downside, this also indicated the remote nature of the place. The last 200 metre stretch was a gravel road leading up to the entrance but it didn't feel like a downer as the greenery of the surroundings put a broad smile on our faces The next thing that was noteworthy (I am certain everyone who has visited will agree) was Mr. Danny at the reception. A more helpful, friendly and open person will be hard to find anywhere in Coorg. Having told us newbies everything that we needed to know about the whole area, he proceeded to regale us with some stories about the beauty that surrounded us. And what a beauty The resort is a built on a beautifully landscaped plantation with the different types of accommodation (Villa style, cottage style and Fairy tale) on different levels. Other amenities in the place are a massive British style dining hall (Oh, the food spread is amazingly tasty and enviable), a swimming pool, a huge Community hall for people who would like to indulge in indoor games and a light workout, hammocks in front of every cottage, a nice nature trail going up the hill, a great view of Tadiandamol peak, beautiful flora attracting dozens of types of birds who happily chirp away throughout the day, support staff who are friendly and are available to help at all times and a waterfall within the plantation (merely 5 minutes walk away) The rooms themselves were spacious and well planned even though betraying the old age of the establishment, were completely functional and only added to the old world lustre of the place The only regret that we take from this holiday was the fact that we took off some time to visit other places in Coorg and in hindsight, we should have stayed in our quaint little cottage in the middle of the woods a little bit more. I guess a good place makes you yearn for it more and we certainly have promised ourselves another visit to the resort in the near future Coorg is often referred to as the Scotland of India and staying in this place will make you see why. If you feel like having a great weekend (or more) and are looking for something similar, Misty Woods won't disappoint you.

Excellent location- close to the nature. Road would be good if you take the longer route via Madikeri (come back through Betagiri-Namokkul-Kakkabe). Superb place, excellent staff- very friendly and explaining every detail of plantations. Lots of greenery- see other photos posted in several websites. A must visit for honeymooners ;-)

Good experience

6.3/7

Misty Woods Resort a resort worth the stay The drive up to Madikeri was smooth. Once you take the left turn on Madikeri highway and start your journey towards Talacauvery – a 40 km drive to the Misty Woods, the road grew thinner and the conditions are average to bad as you proceed towards Napoclu and Kakabebe. The last few kilometers drive is thru thick vegetation and plantation which U will enjoy. The reception is right at the entrance of the resort and the check-in is by ever enthusiast Danny and it was fast. Luggage is taken in a jeep and then U go thru a little grind of climbing a steep walk way…series of steps before reaching your room. Of course, anyone who has difficulty can take the jeep. The resort is built on a hillock and our rooms were facing a valley and the entire place is nature filled, blessed and kissed. The roar of a very nearby water fall, chirping of crickets and birds and whistling sound of trees……....it is so heavenly ……… An excellent retreat!!! While the rooms are decently decked the wash room is also good. The resort is providing clean towels, basic toiletries etc. The bedding / pillow & linen are clean. Sufficient cupboard space, dressing table and working table is also provided. There is also a very decent attic space provided which can accommodate kids. There is no TV or Air conditioners but ceiling fans are provided. Year thru these locations enjoy a very salubrious climate. A fire place is available……unlike certain resorts, it is really working. The resort provides wood and light it for you. The resort resembles Kerala architecture. The dining area is quite spacious and clean. The food served is fresh and good. There is a swimming pool, but it was not operational during our visit. “Thadeyana Mol” which is the highest point of Coorg is near the resort. The most thrilling, unforgettable part was the fantastic drive, on a 4W jeep, by Mr John thru the rocky terrain and the mule tracks of the hill. One can also go up the hill trekking. The views are awesome….On a clear day one can see the Arabian Sea line from the top of the hill .An air of freshness all around!!!! Otherwise, there is a nalapad palace and the water fall very close to the resort. Top of all, the staff…. each one of them sells………a service personified team……..very attentive and responsive…. Net-net, an excellent experience!!!! A highly recommended resort!!!!

Undoubtedly it was a great experience. The stay at this resort was good, the cottage was neat and clean. The food at their restaurant, though the options are very limited, was tasty. The Staff were very helpful and the front-office person, Danny, made sure that we enjoy our stay thoroughly, he made our complete travel plan and he indeed made sure it was executed perfectly as planned. I have no hesitation in recommending this resort for a perfect family getaway.
