Misty Woods, Coorg

Ranked 87 of 1074 hotels in Coorg
I visited Coorg in January 2017. It was my holiday trip with my friends. My native is Patna. Coorg was good city & nice place. Hotel is located in the difficult area & not good to access. The ambiance was not looking great & not up to the mark. The reception was very good & no delay on check-in & good ambiance. I booked my stay through online. Rooms were very clean & very neat & tidy & well in accommodation. Service was very good & on time serving & food service was good. Food was very tasty & well developed in there. Quality of food was good. There was no any activity was there & no wifi facility was average stay.
As Bangalore started becoming a little warm in March, we decided to head to the hills to chill, recharge and replenish our souls. A friend from Madikeri suggested one of the oldest plantations in Coorg and the reviews and the photos of the place had all the promise of a leisurely stay. So, excited by this prospect and that of a nice drive from Bangalore (around 280 km), we set off with enthusiasm. The first thing that struck us as we approached Misty Woods was that the roads close to the resort were not in a good shape. While being a downside, this also indicated the remote nature of the place. The last 200 metre stretch was a gravel road leading up to the entrance but it didn't feel like a downer as the greenery of the surroundings put a broad smile on our faces. The next thing that was noteworthy (I am certain everyone who has visited will agree) was Mr. Danny at the reception. A more helpful, friendly and open person will be hard to find anywhere in Coorg. Having told us newbies everything that we needed to know about the whole area, he proceeded to regale us with some stories about the beauty that surrounded us. And what a beauty! The resort is a built on a beautifully landscaped plantation with the different types of accommodation (Villa style, cottage style and Fairy tale) on different levels. Other amenities in the place are a massive British style dining hall (Oh, the food spread is amazingly tasty and enviable), a swimming pool, a huge Community hall for people who would like to indulge in indoor games and a light workout, hammocks in front of every cottage, a nice nature trail going up the hill, a great view of Tadiandamol peak, beautiful flora attracting dozens of types of birds who happily chirp away throughout the day, support staff who are friendly and are available to help at all times and a waterfall within the plantation (merely 5 minutes walk away). The rooms themselves were spacious and well planned even though betraying the old age of the establishment, were completely functional and only added to the old world lustre of the place. The only regret that we take from this holiday was the fact that we took off some time to visit other places in Coorg and in hindsight, we should have stayed in our quaint little cottage in the middle of the woods a little bit more. I guess a good place makes you yearn for it more and we certainly have promised ourselves another visit to the resort in the near future. Coorg is often referred to as the Scotland of India and staying in this place will make you see why. If you feel like having a great weekend (or more) and are looking for something similar, Misty Woods won't disappoint you.
The overall experience in the hotel was great. I went there with my family. The hotel was far from the city. We liked the hospitality of the staff. There was no intercom facility in the room, that was the only problem. The market was around 20 to 25 kilometres away from the hotel. The receptionist staff were good and they were quick to attend to all requests. The hotel was situated in the jungle. We didn’t face any issue during check-in and check-out process. The room was spacious, neat, clean and well-maintained. The housekeeping staff were daily changing the blankets, bed sheets and pillow cover. Complimentary toiletries were also provided in the room. We could see the nice greenery view from the room. All the basic amenities like TV, geyser and AC were working fine. Hot water was provided only in the early morning. The washroom was neat and clean. Food facility was there in the hotel and they served all types of the food like South Indian and North Indian. Quality wise the food was very good. Indoor and outdoor games were not there in the hotel. It was value for money which I had spent there in the hotel. I will surely recommend this hotel to other travellers. My suggestion is that they should provide intercom facility in the room.ke interior as well as the exterior was good. The room was spacious, neat, clean and well-maintained. Excellent location- close to the nature. Road would be good if you take the longer route via Madikeri (come back through Betagiri-Namokkul-Kakkabe). Superb place, excellent staff- very friendly and explaining every detail of plantations. Lots of greenery- see other photos posted in several websites. A must visit for honeymooners ;-)
Misty Woods Resort a resort worth the stay The drive up to Madikeri was smooth. Once you take the left turn on Madikeri highway and start your journey towards Talacauvery – a 40 km drive to the Misty Woods, the road grew thinner and the conditions are average to bad as you proceed towards Napoclu and Kakabebe. The last few kilometers drive is thru thick vegetation and plantation which U will enjoy. The reception is right at the entrance of the resort and the check-in is by ever enthusiast Danny and it was fast. Luggage is taken in a jeep and then U go thru a little grind of climbing a steep walk way…series of steps before reaching your room. Of course, anyone who has difficulty can take the jeep. The resort is built on a hillock and our rooms were facing a valley and the entire place is nature filled, blessed and kissed. The roar of a very nearby water fall, chirping of crickets and birds and whistling sound of trees……....it is so heavenly ……… An excellent retreat!!! While the rooms are decently decked the wash room is also good. The resort is providing clean towels, basic toiletries etc. The bedding / pillow & linen are clean. Sufficient cupboard space, dressing table and working table is also provided. There is also a very decent attic space provided which can accommodate kids. There is no TV or Air conditioners but ceiling fans are provided. Year thru these locations enjoy a very salubrious climate. A fire place is available……unlike certain resorts, it is really working. The resort provides wood and light it for you. The resort resembles Kerala architecture. The dining area is quite spacious and clean. The food served is fresh and good. There is a swimming pool, but it was not operational during our visit. “Thadeyana Mol†which is the highest point of Coorg is near the resort. The most thrilling, unforgettable part was the fantastic drive, on a 4W jeep, by Mr John thru the rocky terrain and the mule tracks of the hill. One can also go up the hill trekking. The views are awesome….On a clear day one can see the Arabian Sea line from the top of the hill .An air of freshness all around!!!! Otherwise, there is a nalapad palace and the water fall very close to the resort. Top of all, the staff…. each one of them sells………a service personified team……..very attentive and responsive…. Net-net, an excellent experience!!!! A highly recommended resort!!!!
Undoubtedly it was a great experience. The stay at this resort was good, the cottage was neat and clean. The food at their restaurant, though the options are very limited, was tasty. The Staff were very helpful and the front-office person, Danny, made sure that we enjoy our stay thoroughly, he made our complete travel plan and he indeed made sure it was executed perfectly as planned. I have no hesitation in recommending this resort for a perfect family getaway.
