En-route new Jalpaiguri from Darjeeling stopped over for two nights purpose tour with family. Unprofessional approach regarding amenities and services a little out of town. Rates charged would fetch a better bargain at a more convenient location, cuisine not at all palatable, cleanliness not discernible, manager mostly unavailable.

We were group of 14 family members visited Kalimpong/ Sikkim/ Darjeeling. Kalimpong was first on the itinerary and Hotel Monarch was booked for us by Sai Holidays. The hotel being recently opened did not have all the facility required. There was no room service, no drinking water was kept in the room, also the food was not so good. We were even told to use water sparingly like try to avoid having bath since some more people were going to check in the next day. The manager/ owner is not aware of Kalimpong sight-seeing places. He sounds like a novice in the hotel industry. Does not know how to keep the customers satisfied with hospitality. I think lot to be improved if he has to survive in this hotel industry as there are many competitors. Anyway all the best. Otherwise Kalimpong is a beautiful place with exotic and beautiful flowers all over the place.

We stayed for one night at the hotel on our way back to Siliguri after spending 9 days at various locations across Sikkim. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were nice. However, considering the cold, the lack of carpeting was some what unexpected. The staff were very friendly and the manager was like our new best friend at Kalimpong. Overall we had no issues at the hotel. Our only regret was that we dint spend enough time at Kalimpong. If you are looking for adventure, contact the manager. He could hook you up with a team that offers everything from para-gliding to mountain biking.

Accommodation good. 24 hrs hot water supply in toilet. Front office not so attractive. No comment about restaurant and there is no bar facility. Position is good it is out side city. If you have personal vehicle it is good for one or two night stay. Service boy are helpful and efficient. So it is average to good in rating.

Located at just 2 Km from main Kalimpong market, it is a good hotel to stay. Hotel has spacious rooms & has picturesque scenic view in the back of balcony where you may enjoy taking a sip of Tea/Coffee. Services are just satisfactory and needs improvement. One has to chase his orders for compliance, though the food preparation is satisfactory. Room is spacious but the double bed is just enough to accommodate only two but a family of three will find hard to accommodate in bed. They charge extra for a guest accommodating in a double bed but don't provide extra cot instead.

Just 2 km from the main market, monarch is a good place to stay. Spacious rooms, neat and clean. Though for the food you need to instruct the staff. Staffs are very polite and sweet and good service. Sightseeing facility was also excellent. Spending the evening under the night sky with a coffee in the balcony with your beloved beside you was fantastic.

Out side the city. Commuting to city night time used to be difficult. Hospitality was fine. Good rooms. Neat-not good food. Parking not much place. View of mountains and nature very good. Local sightseeing well arranged. Morning restaurant not available -no bed coffee. Value for money.

Leisure time after puja we visit kalimpong and booked monarch…Location was so good, every things really matters from the dinning place, clear Mountain View of kanchenjunga and greenary all around, it’s really amazing. Staffs and owner are very helpful, entertain us by playing guitar in full moon. My advice once to visit kalimpong and stay in monarch.

Kalimpong was our last destination of North East tour after visit to Gangtok, Nathula Pass and Darjeeling. At the outset, from the exterior Hotel Monarch does not appear an excellent place to stay, but since we had already booked in advance, we had little choice. On entering the reception we felt a little better, but were astonished once we were taken to the two rooms we had booked. The peak of Kanchenjunga were clearly visible from the french windows of both the rooms we were allotted. At the time of sunrise the ice covered peaks become orange as the rays of sun spread which a wonderful sight. The town itself is calm with very little traffic unlike Darjeeling and Gangtok, and there are some unbelievably beautiful sights and the tourist will definitely enjoy the trip. People here are very helping and courteous. The menu at the hotel mentions a number of dishes but the preparation is not up to the mark. The rooms are large size and very neat and clean. The property is newly built. Overall experience was excellent.
