The Mopila Bay lies in the vicinity of one of the famous attractions of Kannur, the Fort St. Angelo. This bay remained under the reign of the Kolathiri kings for a long time.
The Arakkal Palace situated on the other side of the bay is another major attraction. It is believed that this bay also served as the commercial harbour during ancient times because of its connectivity with Lakshadweep and other foreign countries.
